I finally got TLJ (after reading about it at length in these forums) and can't run it for XP-- anyone know if they released a patch?
thanks!

Okay I trued reinstalling my Longest Journey yesterday evening and get some win 32 error. What's the deal with this game and Xp? I got this game from Xploisv.
Did you try putting it in compatibility mode?
Is the error one described here (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=6371)? If yes, that's a SP2 problem, not a TLJ problem.
If not... what does the error message say, exactly?

The launcher is broken under Windows XP and I couldn't find a way to fix it with Compatibility mode. Just run the game exe file and most importantly enjoy this fine game.

Great advice and ultimately advice I found at Funcom's website for TLJ. So I had to reinstall it yesterday and now it works fine. Thanks.

Hmm, it can't be completely broken. I ran it on two laptops both with XP SP2 and the launcher (and the game) worked flawlessly on both.

I guess there are different versions out there, I know my original release refuses to execute launcher on any kind of Windows XP operating system.

Probably. For what it's worth I have the US 4 CD version and the launcher is version 1.0.0.1 dated 6/6/2000.

Maybe SP2 fixes the problem with the launcher (SP2 fix something? That would be a first!)
