Chapter 2, am trying to get in to the church, keeps telling me the door is shut, keep going back to the pub to see if gravedigger is still there and he is, any ideas, I have all 3 bits of symbol, have photos in book, think I have been everywhere. Ann

Did you get all pieces of the "Strange Object"?

The first part found in beside the place where Williams body was found. One of the other parts is at the pawn shop. The third part was carried by Henry. You have to get at his clothes somehow.

You can't enter the chuch before completing everything else that has to be done in the other locations in this chapter.

Black Mirror has several instances where you have completed all you have to do, but can't seem to proceed. This is a sort of time-trick, you don't actually have to DO anything except keep your game running and occasionally click around to different scenes, eventually (10-15 minutes?) you can return to where you are in the game and proceed. The entry to the Church is one of these.

This is bad game design. :D I enjoyed Black Mirror, but not for the gameplay.

I got stuck at the exact same spot. Hint - Search the very immediate vicinity around the large trash dumpster on the left side of screen as you arrive outside the doctor's morgue.

Just had a look, could find nothing, but the trash container still show 'red'
I have had the clothes and got the diamond out of it, cannot find anything else

That's strange. There should be a torn letter inside the trashcan beside the previously locked trash container.


I think the trash container and the trashcan are different hotspots. You might have mistaken the hotspot of the trashcan with the one of the trash container, accidentally. :)

Yes J, forgot I have the letter and have put it together. but why is the large trash container still showing red arrow?

I don't know. I think they might have left it like that for no reason. I don't think there is anything else there to be done.

I tried replaying the second chapter, but my computer is acting weirdly, and threw me out of the program.

Maybe you should go back to the pub, and see if the grqavedigger is gone now. I am sorry, but I can't think of anything else that might help right now. :frown:

Some objects remain 'hot' (i.e. red) even after you've used them. No particular reason. I do not believe that this is one of the 'time tricks' the game employs (in a rather annoying way, true). In this instant I think that the game is just 'waiting' (or halts, whatever) until you go through all the dialogues. I suspect there's some dialog line that you haven't read yet: try talking to EVERYBODY you meet, even Vick if he's still around. Look in the big dumpster (not the trashbin) and examine (right-click) the bones. As they've already told you, the church gate unlocks when you find the gravedigger missing from the pub.

(Antoinetta) Re. "bad game design", just ask yourself this: which do you prefer, the approach taken by BM (the game does not progress until you see/hear/read everything there is to be s/h/r) or the one taken by GK3 (the time passes and things happen even when you're not around -to a degree)?
Apart from that, it is true of course that the way BM has *implemented* the 'time passing' routine is very bad, to say the least. In Act III when you're waiting for William to provide you with vital info (...) is a true waste of time ;(

Still cannot get in church, most annoying, have been back everywhere, no one want to talk, can find nothing anywhere, did find a light switch in the stable, don't know what it does,and every time I go back to pub, gravedigger still there.
in my inventory is
pills, map, photo, camera, small knife, black sphere,jewel box,torn up letter, strange object, williams diary with symbols photos in back.
I am getting bored with this game :\

Must tell you all, I was told to check the torn up letter again, so I re-did the letter and now I can go into the church,
so just to re-cap, in my inventory it showed the letter in torn up pieces but when you click on it, it was all fixed together, but when I re-did the note it showed in the inventory as the completed note, and that was when it all worked,hope that sound clear.

If I understood you well, this is smt that I cannot understand at all :crazy:
You had *already* put the letter pieces together but in your inventory it showed up as 'torn', until you re-compiled it a second time?
Unbelievable (...bug).
Good thing you're on your way again though.

Oh, btw, you won't need the light switch (stable) before the final act...

Have finished Black Mirror, enjoyed it,only would have like some exclamation as to why and how???
Am now looking for another game like it.
