Oh man.. day 2 is so annoying.. im new so i dont know how to do those spoiler-free tag things, so i'll just speak vaguely---
when playing as gabe-- you have to follow the cleaning lady around and do.. something. Unfortunatly i figured out what that 'something' was after she'd been in 2 or 3 rooms already. Now 3 days later i check out UHS and it says the only way to get around this is to replay the chapter.. i cant imagine they would have made such a punitive puzzle. :frusty:
I dont know why i always get so riveted with GK games.. so much of them is just plain BORING... walk around.. talk to the old woman.. get a book page... witness a conversation--- ride your motorcycle places... but i cant stop damnit..

I don't think you need to use spoiler tags, because if the hint request is about Gabriel Knight 3, I think people know not to check the thread if the haven't played the game. But if you want to, use [ spoiler ] and [ / spoiler] (without the spaces inside the [ ]). And I've been wrong before.
I don't remember exactly, but you can also use the balcony to get to the rooms you must visit (Madeline's and Lady Howard and Estelle's). I don't remember, however, if you needed to have opened at least the door to the other room (either Madeline's or Lady Howard and Estelle's door).
Also, I think I took it for granted that I'd need to restore when I figured out what to do. Maybe because I just liked the "boring" stuff and wanted to find out as many details as possible.
Besides, the game hasn't yet proceeded to the next timeblock, right? There's not that much to replay. Or in fact, "play", because you have missed most of the stuff and nothing has yet happened.

I'm pretty sure - though someone may disagree - that there are no vital events in GK2 that you can miss. You may not be able to do something at this stage if you don't act quickly (I honestly can't remember), but you'll only miss out on some optional plot strands and a few points.

There are absolutely no dead ends in GK3. Anything you must do, you will be able to do; all the rooms you must get into, you can always get into, even if the maid has moved on. It is just a question of missing some optional gameplay, not anything essential.
