We're all pretty sick of the slew of In Memoriam hint threads. So here is the ONE thread where In Memoriam hints can be discussed. Please put [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] (without the spaces) tags around your hints/solutions.
Unfortunately, the link someone posted to the In Memoriam walkthrough has been lost, so it would be great if someone would post that again.
All In Memoriam hint threads outside of this one will be deleted. Also, please use this thread only for discussing In Memoriam hints; unrelated posts will be removed so as to avoid thread swelling. Thanks for understanding.

Ok, here is the In Memoriam walkthrough link...
http://shaamaan.neostrada.pl/In_Memoriam_Guide.txt
Why did my previous link get deleted? I thought it was helping?
Most new users will just post a "help with fire thingie puzzle" anyway... as if it wasn't hard enoough to help... :(
Oh well, I sincerely hope this thread helps... The main problem is that since it hasn't been released in the US yet, only european gamers can help.... And I'm afraid I'm the only forum member here that joined BEFORE In Memoriam that is willing to help... :frown:

I've just completed In Memoriam and I am completely willing to help. I was forced to use the shaamaan site once, as I couldn't understand how one arrived at the number 77. (Even after seeing the walkthrough it didn't help me understand the solution... until it came to me in my sleep that night.)
Look for the one-and-only North American review of IM here soon!

I can't go on with the Agia Sophia lights. How must I do this?

I have another question concerning the Vari-puzzle. I did the first step (the "umbra etc."-spoiler part), but now I'm stuck again: I can't get past the second stage, because I can't fill in anything. I can turn the circles, and it does affect the sound, but that's all.
Who can help me?
I had good luck with Agia Sophia by making all of the dots touch the dashed line just to the right of the words "agia sophia."
On the Vari puzzle, the object is to isolate a certain sound by turning off all of the other sounds.

In my case, what worked for the Hagia Sopia puzzle was:Grouping the lights as tightly as possible low enough that they did not illuminate the top dotted line of the square

Yeah i dont understand the walkthrough either
BacardiJim
11-16-2003, 04:43 PM
Sorry to be so slow in responding. The walkthrough does over-complicate this. Number the levhas (discs) A-H from left to right as they appear when you first enter the puzzle. Number the spots where you can put them 1-4 from left to right along the northern/top side of the floor plan, and 5-8 from left to right along the southern/bottom side. The solution now is: A-8, B-6, C-5, D-2, E-1, F-3, G-4, H-7
If you screw up this puzzle, you can leave and come back to it and the levhas will be reset.
I don't believe that there is any particular website to look at for visual help with this puzzle. I had to cross reference photos of Hagia Sophia's interior from three different sites for a solution.

Guys I Have a very big problem....I need the solution of subos puzzle at IN MEMORIAM....it's unfair ...I was saty awake so much and I solved so many puzzles and now I can't find anything to do with subos puzzle...please if anyone has a suggestion or the photo of the skeleton please contact me...THANX!
BacardiJim
11-17-2003, 03:18 AM
The SUBOS puzzle is (I discovered yesterday) the game's one glitch. As you may know by now: You need to make the doll's skeleton look like the skeleton on the cover of the box of matches. But if you leave the puzzle and come back to it, the picture of the skeleton on the matchbox is no longer there.
However, all is not lost, Babsi! Read below for some help. The skeleton is posed with his head tilted to the right. His left arm comes more or less straight out, then bends back and up at the elbow so his hand is touching his cheek. The right arm comes pretty much straight down along his body with the hand tilted slightly out. Left thigh comes out about 90 degrees, then angles back toward groin and down. Right knee is bent up to around the center of the ribcage, then back down in a peak. Feet are crossed at the ankles with right foot in front. Note that you can bend the arms and legs at three places, upper bone, lower bone, and foot/hand. Any time you get a bone in the right spot, you will hear a signal sound. Start with the head, as it is easiest. Slowly tilt it to your right (the skeleton's left) until you hear the sound, and you will know what to listen for. Turn up your speakers and listen carefully. This description and the sound when you hit the right spot should help you out.
I hope this helps you out.

Hello,
i'm just new here. What i wanne ask, i have In Memoriam, whats a verry freaky game. But now i've got to Sobus, or Subus and i get the error: "There is an illegal castmember (member 138 of player - cost 14) in this movie".
I installed the patche but it won't work, what must i do know?

I did not know there was a patch available. In fact, I looked all over for one when I hit my own game glitch. Are you playing the UK/English language version?
I have a couple of suggestions. First, try exiting the game and restarting it, then go back to the puzzle. This may get you around the error. If that doesn't work, I BELIEVE that if you use the Uninstall utility, one of the options is to "repair" your installation. If that doesn't work either, then you will likely be stuck doing the same thing I did... uninstalling and reinstalling the game and starting over from scratch.

And here I am again... Jen en BJ helped me out perfectly fine with the Vari-puzzle, thanks. But now I came upon a technical problem. After defeating AER and going into IGNIS, I get this message: DIRECTOR PLAYER ERROR, C:\UBISOF~1\...\p700_typos.cxt IS NOT A DIRECTOR FILE. The game stops right away then, and when I restart it, I'm just stuck with a static unclickable screen. Now I took the file out, but I'm afraid I have to start all over again, mustn't I? Any suggestions, other then uninstalling and reinstalling and starting from scratch?

It took me a while to find again, but you can find the 2.1 patch here (http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=xiBpfFYg&p_lva=&p_faqid=8713&p_created=1068237382&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTExJ nBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2R fbHZsMT04OCZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMj0xMDAzJnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9f mFueX4mcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=) (along with the 1.1 patch too). Another thing you could try would be to reinstall quicktime which director player is part of (that's what ubisoft asked me to try when I had some problems).

I never was able to make the bug go where I wanted. It MAY have to do with what color pills you feed it. You can always chase it off of the wrong treadmill by clicking on the bug before it starts running on the treadmill (or as soon as you see it running to the wrong one).

It's easy:
First put blue pill somewhere on the screen and then the green pill while the bug is still eating the pill. He is going to one reel
Next put the blue pill somewhere and then the yellow pill. He is going to the next reel
At last put the green pill somewhere and then the yellow pill. The bug is going to the last reel.
You must make the number 658 and if the number is reached click on the bug.

I have a question about the patch(es) ... does anyone know if it ok to use it after you have already started playing the game? Someone I know is getting an error with the Phu puzzle, which the second patch is supposed to correct, but the patch has not fixed the problem. And has anyone had success with reinstalling Quicktime?

Hi Jim
I found that after finding which colour pills for each treadmill if you reverse the colours for each one then they do as you want.
ie..Say one set is Blue and Green, then put them in the order of Green then Blue.
Worked for me.
Now gonna reinstall becuse of lock up in PHU. Gr Gr Gr.

It seems that I am not the only one to encounter a script error on the PHU puzzle once you reveal and start playing around with the dragonfly. In my case, it meant reinstalling the game and starting from scratch. The patch available for In Memoriam does not address this bug, though rumor has it that the developers are hard at work on a patch for this and a couple of other bugs.
However, my research has suggested a POSSIBLE fix for this. You can try it and let me know how it works for you. At worst it will leave you no worse off than you are now. Save backups of your ENTIRE "Save" folder, which is in the Ubi Soft\In Memoriam\Media\Dir folder. This should include both a sub-folder titled something like "User_1" and file called "config.cfg." Now reinstall the game and use a new e-mail address to register it. Then replace the new "Save" folder with the old one you made a backup copy of. With luck, this should allow you to login with your old original username and addy and allow you to continue your progress from where you hit the bug.

Hi,
Did anyone else get the cd not found error? I googled and found one guy's frustrated posts at tightarses.com (great domain), the CS rep from Ubi said it was because he is not running from a cd drive named d (if they really did hardcode the drive letter 'sigh, morons) but I am still getting that error and my cd drive letter is most definitely d. I've also tried it in my laptop where the drive letter is not d and I seem to be getting that problem regardless. What about a no CD patch? Im sure this is some CD protection error causing my drives to fail and I have recent drives.. DVD drives.
I downloaded patch 2.1 but when it installs, the installation program quotes version 1.2, anyone else get that? nevertheless still getting athat CD problem. Anyone fix this?

I know this is going to sound stupid given that everyone else has no doubt managed to get through this game without getting stuck at this point but I cannot figure out what the password is that I need to put in for the earth section of the first puzzle that takes you to the door of the initiates. I have got the sun and the moon puzzles but I am completely stuck and the shaamaan walkthrough barely mentions it which shows how easy it must be! I know I will kick myself but what is it and how would I have found it? Please help.
Hello there guys :) My name is George and Recently I bought IN MEMORIAM. I think I have progressed a lot ( I am in the Air level now) in two days :) Well, PHU is taking a lot of time to solve, because that Dragonfly gives me "A"s and "Z"s all the time and it very rarely gives out other letters (even if it does, they will likely be "X"s or "T"s) Is that a bug? I mean I get toher letters from time to time, but it has taken an hour now and I need only 2 letters to complete the puzzle. Or is there a way that "triggers" specific letters?
If you can remind me what Rhomenus asked you to do, I will be glad to help :)

Pressing a wing (or the tail) and then one of the antennas produces
a letter. The left antennae will give you letters from A to M. The
right: N to Z. So, for instance, if you press the top-left wing and than the left antenna, you will get the letter "A." The second-left wing and then the left antenna produces a "B."
Make sense?

after gettin an email to download a sound thingy it gives a code to type in to access it like the video one.
i got an error of somesort come up when i put it in, didnt make a note of it, bit silly really. ive got the audio link there but nothing happenes when listening to the noise.
i cheated and found the answer to the first part in the walk through but i cant find out what ive got to do now to make it quiet. im hoping that i wont need the audio thingy to do this other wise im stuck.
anyone had this problem?
anyone able to tell me what i need to move in order to make it quite? is it the rings in the middle or the tabs on the outside?
someone please help as im really proud of how far i have got and i really dont want to have to reinstall the game and reregister it all... i'll have to make up another email address and everything wouldnt i?
is there a way of reinstalling it with out having to reregister?
BacardiJim
01-14-2004, 04:36 PM
Short of going back and replaying the game through to that point and taking a screenshot, I can't give you the positions of the tabs. And it IS the tabs you are moving. Each one controls a track of the "white noise" you are hearing (if you have the sound tool) and you rotate each tab to a position where its track is eliminated. Underneath all that white noise you will be left with a single track of dialogue.
If you reinstall the game and start it over you must re-register with a new e-mail address. There are no "saved game" files to allow you to import the progress of your current game to the new one if you reinstall. (Actually, there is one saved game file, but it is indexed within the coding to the particular game it came from and can't be transferred.)

I'm on what I think is the last puzzle before the 'finale - Sichet.
I've received an email that explains what you need to do, and I also looked at the walkthrough (you lot are gonna think I'm a walkthrough addict, lol) but I'm still none the wiser. What is 'the right speed'? And how the hell do you make it work? :\

I'll try posting here as well, in case they delete the message I posted outside this thread:
I'm stuck in the game you have to play in Zocha. I've tried playing it for ages, but I can't seem to get past the third level. Anyone who's got a detailed explanation on how to pass the last levels of Zocha? I'm desperate.
Hey all,
Having got over the hurdle of the bug in Phu (and having to uninstall and do a complete reinstall), I am now having real problems trying to start IGNIS. I have just defeated AER, the message from the Phoenix came up, the AER blue changed to red to signify the changeover, and then I received the error message DIRECTOR PLAYER ERROR, CUBISOF~1\...\p700_typos.cxt IS NOT A DIRECTOR FILE. The game immediately closes. Upon restart, the screen in stuck on the AER screen, with no clickable areas. Can anyone help..PLEASE!!! I've come so far, I really need to finish and find out how it ends!!! ;(
Thanks
Did u find anything out about this? I have been all over the net trying to find a solution to this....help if u can PLEASE!!! :frown:

Bish: This is the same type of Macromedia Director script error I hit that forced me to restart the game from scratch. I have since learned that there is a patch for the game available from some European site. I don't know if it will help you or not.
Frigida: All I can tell you is that in one of the later levels of Zocha, I found that I had to completely disconnect the box once or twice and let it free-fall for a second before quickly attaching a rubber band to it. I recall that this was the only way to get it around the first curve of one of the levels.

Thanks for the feedback Bacardi Jim/Twisted Alice,
Ubi Sift have asked me to ensure that I have the latest version of DirectX on my PC, I updated this last week, so I know this isn't causing the problem. I've found one patch (2.1) which I have installed. This seemed to fix the bug in Phu (which is why I went searching in the first place!!) but I am still stuck on the AER screen. Gutted. I'll keep searching...I'll update with any new finds
;(

The trick to this puzzle is in all of the dots, not just the red ones. From the starting dot, you can't reach the end red dot (as you have already figured out!). You need to drag the rope/string from the first three circles to the set of three circles above it. Pick one. If the string does not attach, pick another one, if the string does not attach, it will attach to the third. Keep doing that for each set of three circles, and it will lead you around the last red circle.Hope that makes sense!!

i know your not gona want to hear this - but it was trail and error - keep moving the tabs untill the sound changes - it might just be a tiny little change but you'll get there eventually - think it took me about 20-30mins to do it
you might want to turn up your sound as high as poss so its easier to detect the changes in the sound tho as some of them are teeeeeny little things!!
btw did you get an error message come up when trying to get it to work as well? the sound cracker thingy that is?

I've been having the exact same problem and it has been driving me mad for two days now. I think I have the solution now.
You see, I have this problem on my home computer but not on my work computer so I did a little comparison of the IM directory on both computers and this is what I found out:
The files p701_doll.cxt, p700_typos.cxt and p700_round.cxt are not installed properly on my home computer. The sizes don't match with the working files on my work computer. As a matter of fact the p700_typos-file is the size 0kb on my home machine. Also when I try to copy these files manually from the install cd, it reports problems with them.
So, now I'm mailing these files from the succesfull installation at work to my home computer, and try replacing the damaged files there...we'll see what happens. I'll let you know as soon as I find out!

Hmmm, should I reply in English or suomeksi... ;)
Are you sure nothing happens when you click the audio-tab..? Have you eliminated all of the other background noise? Because I thought too, that pressing the audio-tab didn't change anything, but it did change the message the voice was saying. It's still not easy to hear what the voice is saying, but with careful listening it's possible...

YES! That solved it. Now, if your p700_typos.cxt is 0kb in size, you have a faulty installation (due to CD-drive, maybe). That's it, off to IGNIS! If anyone is still having problems with this thing, let me know and I'll tell what you need to do..!

First of all, the installation took about 2 hours, is that normal??
After i installed the game and want to start it, it gives a couple of errors and then crashes!! Anyone experienced the same thing and if so what to do about it??

Ok....does anyone have any idea how you control the bug on the treadmill in Amphatab? 'Cos I've tried different pill combinations and so far it'll only turn the middle treadmill!! :frusty: :)
Leave the red pills alone and stay away from the bug when it feeds or it will run away. A yellow followed by a green will move RH treadmill. Blue then yellow move LH treadmill and Green and blue move centre treadmill. Just keep moving them until you get the numbers you need.

I'm new to thread mill hints, but well into In Memoriam and could help others. I would happily put [ ] around stingers if I new what a stinger was.

On the other hand, Gery's final interruption of the game takes a little while to happen. Unless you got the "Hit so-and-so key NOW" message you should keep playing and see if something happens later in the game.

Stay online and I'll send you an email, and then, nothing. It's okay, I guess. Is there a way to view the film from like, the disc or something? I tried turning down all the internet security features just to make it load, but nothing. I guess it's just giving me the proverbial finger.

Did you lose the final game really fast or something? I had no problems with getting the final video and e-mails. You must keep playing the final game for a bit after you get the message from Gery. Once you understand the rules, it is impossible (short of coordination problems) to lose. (Yeah, I suffered from those coordination problems and lost the final game, but I was able to play it long enough to.... welllll.... I was able to extend the game long enough. Even though I lost it, I got the final e-mail from Gery, which includes (as I recall) some video footage.
And I kept getting e-mails for another week after I was done with the game.

No, I won the final game. I've never lost the final game, not even the first time. Beat it several times, in fact. but nothing happened after the last message pops up. I know it's the last message, it even says it's over. Jack and Karen saved and everything. No video clip, even though it asks for permission to play it back.

Same problem with Amaterasu though I don't seem to be making any progress..
I clicked on the white dott after beating Space Invaders and got to the website.
Gery:Warning to those..etc etc...SKL will keep you informed as events unfold
i click to continue, then...
Gery:Hold on! bla-bla-bla Click on Authorise to continue.
The pop-up appeared but after i pressed "Allow" nothing happened. Just the black screen
I refreshed the page and went on the same way.. Nothing again
I've done that for about 5 times or so and now it even stopped giving me the pop-up message.
No e-mails have arrived and I've been waiting for about 30 minutes now with no sign of progress on the black screen..
Please, oh please, don't tell me I will have to play the game from scratch or something... Cause i'm ready to go on with that acid shower..
Note that I have no pop-up blocker active and my security levels are all set to medium.

Well I don't know why it didn't work for you but I can access my notepad feature by logging in. As for the other two (Translation and Search) you don't need to log in to use them. To find them click on the "Appeal for Witnees: Jack Lorski" picture while on the main page of SKL. The options are now on your left.
Good luck in the game.

At that point, you can toggle the audio tool on/off. With it off, the Phoenix will sound like he is speaking in slow motion, completely incomprehensible. Toggling the audio tool on will allow you to (barely) understand his words. Note that he is not speaking in English, but in Latin.

thank you for the quick reply, in true fashion i figured out the problem a few minutes after posting :b
i was confused by the walkthrough example of where to place the rings, i didn't realize that i had to first place the rings so that all the sound went away in another order FIRST. I thought the picture in the walkthrough was supposed to be the solution to make silence.
Well, thanks again!

Hello all,
Has anyone else found that e-mails that they think they should have had (walkthrough indicated) and are crucial to the game just never arrive or arrive maybe 10-12hrs later. for instance i am well past "Vari" using a walkthrough but as yet i have not recieved the e-mail about the audio tool(after over 24hrs)
I personally do not find any fun in being set a task without any indication on how to accomplish it. That is how i see this game.
Lastly quite a few of the websites with the answers on simply do not appear in the google search.
Using a walkthrough is a must or you just don't stand a chance, especially when half the parts are missing.

I had no problems with the e-mails. Perhaps they are going into your spam folder, if you have one?
As for the requisite sites, they all appear if you use the in-game Google search on the SKL-Network page. Using that Google search often returns different results than using a regular Google browser search.

It's hard to remember the puzzle by the name Vari, but is this the one where you have a lot of scattered dots and a speaker in the middle that keeps chanting a list of city names over and over? Each dot represents a city. Roll the cursor over the dots and you will see the name of the city. You must click the cities in the same order as the center speaker chants them at you, starting with Naples.

I'm stuck on Lachori. The crest isn't working, even though I've found the right pattern and everything.
I'm sure this has been brought up before but I don't want to risk spoiling anything I've yet to accomplish in the game.
Please help!

No help for it. It's Pac-man. You have to go left, around the top, over to the right, and enter the center from the right side.

No, I mean after that. Please swipe - Where you put the pictures over the light. You figure out the name of the hotel or something, look the name up online, see the crest on the website (hotel-mocenigo.com) and light up the correct sections of the crest in the puzzle. When you do that, it's supposed to "open," but mine just doesn't work. WTF? Freaking help please.

I had to download a patch for that. I went to the Ubisoft site and got the patch from their support section, I think. I don't remember the exact site address, but it shouldn't be too hard to find directly from the Ubisoft page. I think the game is listed as In Memoriam, not Missing.
Make sure you restart your computer after you've downloaded the patch.

I am stuck on Vari and would appreciate it if someone would send me a save game file after Vari so I could complete the game(my e-mail is zerk23@hotmail.com)? This has to be the worst puzzle ever. I have been stuck on it for 3 days now and I just don't get it. I have put the tabs and rings to where the walkthrough shows and its still noisy and doesn't help. I have moved the tabs to eliminate some noise but the rings dont seem to do anything. Anyone want to give a step by step way to complete it or a save game would be great.
EDIT: I also wanted to say, I downloaded the sound thingy and I typed the code in to put it on the toolbar and when I click it, nothing happens.

this is a responce to the previous post.
i was stuck on the second part of vari for 4 and a half days. i was at it for about 11 hours straight at a time. the rings do something they ARE important! first move each outside tab until u hear ne of the sounds diminish (each one gets rid of a diff. sound) then work on the rings thats how i did it and it seemed to work move them the same way u moved the tabs a little at a time and listen carefully i have since finished the game or i would send u the saved game sorry :frusty: . i am going to start the game again and if i get past it again before u get it ill send the login and password to ur email. k? i hope ive been of some help. hang in there (it gets harder and even more twisted!) oh yeah and the sound "thingie" doesnt do anything when clicked it works in the background by itself when u get the dots to appear it is what makes them so u can understand when they are chanted.

what is the problem with this game? i got my registration email, and thats IT. I havent received one email since that. I have been stuck on the Vari puzzle for 2 days now, because the audio tool wont show up in my menu. I downloaded it from the walkthrough, and opened the menu and typed the code it gave, and nothing. nothing shows up there at all. I have the american version maqde by The Adventure Company, if that makes a difference. So far i have been VERY disapointed with this game. It has the makings of a good game, just not very well executed.

Dont pay attention to the walkthrough screenshot as you will never beat it.
I'm thinking these sound puzzles are created completly at random. all i did was i turned my speakers up and started with the tabs and moved the till it was at its 'quietest'.{i couldnt wait to get it to just shut up.} then i started with the inside circles.there isn't any one solution....use your ears you'll be fine. I too was totally frazzled by that horrid vari puzzle. p.s i dont think you need the sound tool but if it shows up on navigational bar double click it.as uit may make it a little easier.
good luck.

Hi all, this is a really sweet site, glad I stumbled across it.
Anyways, I've encountered a glitch in the American version of Missing and wanted to know if anyone had the same problem or knows have to help.
I solved the ISY puzzle all by my lonesome, but the game will not accept the answer. I've checked my answer of Hydragyrum on every walkthrough I could find and they all list that as the correct answer. I input the word with the available letters to click on, and nothing happens. Any ideas?
Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us.
I'm playing Missing right now but I don't think I've reached the puzzle you're talking about. However, I did have a problem on an earlier puzzle where I'd put in all the correct info but it didn't take until I hit enter on my keyboard. You may want to make sure you've done this (seems dumb, huh?)

Haha, yeah I had that same problem earlier in the game, so now I hit Enter 20 times after every puzzle. I think I might have found the solution to my problem. Unbeknowst to me, there's two ways of spelling the word. It's kind of disappointing because I never found have figured that out without a walkthrough and I try my hardest not to use 'em.

I have major problems in mission Subos. In there last part where I should kill 17 parasites and 11 plants to protect. Two first ones were easy, but this last level is so hard to me. I try to protect only one or two of plants, and just knock the parasites out. But I allways end up situation were there is still something like 10 parasites left and one plant (because they wont die by first hit, they just keep coming back), they comes from every direction and finally they eat the last plant or time end up. Also many times when I move my "cursor" over to the parasites nothing happens, cursor just goes "through" the parasites. I have tried
something like 30-40 times this last part of Subos and now Iīm ready to quit playing this f***** game..;). Can anybody give me good help or tips?

It seems to be the flames from the jets as you move the cursor that kill the parasites, try moving through large groups of them quickly to try and drop the numbers as quickly as possible. You will generally end up with 1 flower at then end, try and be pro-active about protecting it, once a parasite gets close to it is too late keep them well away from it by chasing them a bit.
Paul.

Ok thanks. Flames must be the keyword. I just wondering, why the parasites keep coming back when I knock them off the screen? So do I have to hit every parachite twice and then they die (first hit knocks them off screen, they come back and second hit kills them?). Like I said in my first post, the first and second part of this level was very easy, but this last part seems to be very difficult to me.
Captain Chickenpants
09-22-2004, 05:04 AM
Yeah that seems about right. I think it may take more than two hits to kill some of them, but just keep on hitting them and they do eventually die. I found this one quite tought, but there is a tougher one later...
Shamy
09-22-2004, 05:44 AM
Thereīs 17 parasites, so I have to hit atleast 34 times to pass this last part??!
I think what makes this hard one, is small delay on the "jets" movement, so itīs quite hard to react smoothly and hit accurately to the parasites, when they attack from three different direction (I also have crappy old mouse, so it may effect). It would be so nice if just could pass this one with some secret password or with screen save.
I'm another one stuck on SICHET. For those of you who have been through it, could you be a wee bit more specific than "get the film at the right speed"? Do you mean the film stops rolling and the video plays? Because I can do that all day long. I've done it at different sizes and my mouse has been all over the screen.
By all appearances, I've gotten it at the "right speed" plenty of times -- if that means it stops rolling. If not, tell me what I should do. I've passed every other puzzle, but this one is frustrating and inane.
BacardiJim
09-22-2004, 04:16 PM
It is a frustrating pixel hunt. The film must not only be running at the right speed (move cursor right-left) but must be at the correct size (move cursor up-down). One specific pixel on your screen will do the trick.
My best advice is that it is just a little below the filmstrip and, if I recall correctly, just a tad right of center. This should, at least, narrow it down for you.

Thanks, B. Do you recall the size the film needs to be, because I thought (though obviously not) that I went through every freakin' size. And "getting the right speed" means just stopping the film from rolling, correct?
I was enjoying the game to this point. I wish it would give sound clues or a visual clue or something when the appropriate pixel is approached.

I don't think you want to stop the film from rolling. You just want it rolling at a smooth speed. Like I said, the spot is around an inch (maybe a little less) below the film and barely right of center.

Ok, I've been at this screen for 2 days now. (The one with 26 letters floating in the middle and you have to use the keyboard to push the letters around.) I've gotten every letter except the I to go where it needs to go. I've tried exiting the game to get the 26 letters in the middle to reorder, but they always come back in exactly the same order (that is with the I on the far right when I need to push it lower left). I've tried multiple keyboard/letter combinations with no success and have just about had it. Any thoughts/suggestions?

P.S. I'm using the US version (Missing: Since January)

To me it seemed that all the other letters were pushed away from whatever letters you pressed on the keyboard. Try using a combination of letters to see if you can move that pesky 'I'

There is no "hint" or "right way" to do this puzzle. It's a matter of skill, luck and timing. You must switch between keys to blow the letters around. Sometimes the switch must be instantaneous, switching directly from one key to the next... sometimes you want to release the key and let your "target letter" blow back in a little bit toward the center before kitting the next key. It CAN be done, and it really isn't that hard.

I never was able to make the bug go where I wanted. It MAY have to do with what color pills you feed it. You can always chase it off of the wrong treadmill by clicking on the bug before it starts running on the treadmill (or as soon as you see it running to the wrong one).
The purpose of this test is to enter the combination 658. With the bugs, you "feed" them different colored pills per treadmill. One pill at a time and only one of each. Never use the red pill-it will only kill the bug. Click on the bug to shoo it away once the treadmill is at the right number.
For the treadmill on the left, use only blue and yellow pills. The middle treadmill is green and blue pills. And the right treadmill is green and yellow.
Use one pill to lure a bug onto the treadmill, and the other color to get the treadmill moving.
Hope this helped.

Hi Kityn! :) I'll try not to be too vague with this, but here goes:
You need to enter the name of the element by spelling it ONLY with the given letters
A, B, D, F, G, H, M, R, U, X and Y (OK, that much you probably know! ;))
The English name for the element obviously won't work, so consider another language!
Hint: Think about its chemical symbol.
If you had already figured that part out, you might have been fooled by the spelling of the name! Many others who thought they knew the correct spelling may have forgotten one letter! (Unfortunately, some walkthroughs I've seen have spelled the name incorrectly too! :pan: ) If you're still stuck...
...the letter you're probably missing is another 'R'!
Hope this helps,

Hi Trunkyo
Thanks for your suggestions.....it's just that they're not working.
I know the missing element is: Mercury, and I know it's symbol is Hg. I also know it's full name is "hydragyrum".
What I don't get is where I need the extra letter. I recieved the spelling not only from my walktrhu sites but from several other sites (talking about the elements and their table, etc.)
Please tell me if this is or isn't the correct spelling. (and if it isn't where do I need the extra letter)
Thanks again for your help. :)

Hi again, Kityn!
I'm glad you did get as far I thought you did! :D
As I said before, many people (at this forum and other adventure gaming forums) were stumped by Isy too, because they thought they entered the correct answer and it didn't work! :frusty: I won't go into a debate into which spelling of the word is more "acceptable" or "correct" since this isn't the place to do this, the arguments for either would make you !
Walkthroughs for IM/MISSING should at least use the spelling accepted by the game...
The point is, the game will only accept one answer, which is...
hydrargyrum, as opposed to "hydragyrum".
Good luck with the rest of the game! ;)

Ok, so, I'm almost done with this game and I'm on Lachori, where you look at slides and rearrange a crest to color it correctly. Question about the end of the game:
It's been about 5 days since I beat the game. After defeating Phoenix, one of the last e-mails mentions that the "police will soon release a sketch of Phoenix." Do we ever get to see this picture? I've gone back to a few of the important game websites and run google searches, but nothing. I also don't see any mention of the sketch in the walkthroughs ...
I was hoping there'd be at least something more (I always suspected that Gery (fe256) would turn out to be Phoenix) .. but the way the game ended, IMHO, was pretty lame ...
Welcome to the forum, jteckmann! *D Glad you figured out what to do.

Has anyone had problems regarding not receiving emails? I've nearly finished the game and haven't yet had a single email! I thought you where supposed to receive regular emails from skl?
I haven't received an e-mail in ages...wish I knew what to do about it!

I've just completed In Memoriam and I am completely willing to help. I was forced to use the shaamaan site once, as I couldn't understand how one arrived at the number 77. (Even after seeing the walkthrough it didn't help me understand the solution... until it came to me in my sleep that night.)

We need help beating the last of the Zocha puzzles. I can get the square all the way to the end with a pretty full bar, but absolutely can't get it into the circle. It seems almost impossible. If anyone has any helpful hints or suggestions, my blood pressure would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!

I LOVE this thread!! Inspired me to try to finish the game after giving up in frustration many moons ago...
My main problem pertains to the maze puzzle with the ball on a string. How many levels are there? Every time I think I'm finished, I get thrown into ANOTHER maze.... Hitting those walls is driving me looney...and reminding me why I gave up in the first place, lol.

Hello, I bought Missing a couple weeks ago on a whim and I love it so far, but I've seem to hit a snag that's really frustrating me no matter how many walkthrough guides I have with me.
It's the one with the bug on the treadmill (looks like EVERYONE'S having trouble with that one, ) For the treadmill on the right, when I go to grab the second pill, the stupid bug runs away no matter how far away I keep my mouse from it! :frusty: I've tried exiting and re-entering the puzzle to try again, but no avail.
I hope I don't have to download a patch for this... :/

Hi everyone. I've been playing IM for about a week now and I've finally reached the final stage (I think :P ) but it won't let me continue! I'm having the same problem as Ou812 back on page 4 (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=779&page=4) and figured I'd try his solution. Could someone pleeeeeeaaaase email me the following files as they show up as 0kb on my PC and they're giving me cyclic redundancy errors when I try to copy them off the installation CD:
p700_round.cxt
p700_typos.cxt
p701_doll.cxt
They're located in the Media\Dir\Cst directory.
My email address is myegomachine@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate this!

What is going on with this bug? I've tried all the combinations on this thread and in the walk through but only get 8 on each treadmill. If you move slowly and don't touch the bug it doesn't run away so I got over that but like I said the only number the bug gets is 8. It's driving me made I can't bare to try any more I've been at it for an hour.

I hope you can help me with these two. I had to check the walkthrough for the answer for ouphist. I found all the way to the site that had Kasim Sari Kulic- Istanbul but I couldn't figure out how they came to the answer 185053. Can you tell me. Also, in Sothir, I converge the lights above Agim Sophia and nothing happens

I had good luck with Agia Sophia by making all of the dots touch the dashed line just to the right of the words "agia sophia."
On the Vari puzzle, the object is to isolate a certain sound by turning off all of the other sounds.
Ok, I give....How is it done? It's driving me crazy.........and how do you get them to move and stay where you want them to???????????
Thanks

I am still stuck on this puzzle. Is there a special way to move the circles in order to get them into the dotted area?

Ok, I am at the second level of Terra now and still have NOT received ANY emails.
I just purchased this game on Thursday (Oct. 6, 2005) and installed it. When it would not connect to the server to register my username, I then installed the Patch, and it worked fine. I did then receive the email with my password but have not received any emails since then! I have checked my SPAM filters and folders, the emails were simply not sent (so it seems).
I have tried emailing their support without luck or any response in 3 days! It's killing me. I can still play the game but I feel like I am missing out on a huge part of the story, and even more importantly, the ability to get "swept up" into the game.
Thanks!

To the last few posters - sorry no one was able to help you.
I think this thread has become too long for its own good, so I'm going to close it. Anyone who has new questions about Missing / In Memoriam, please start a new thread.
