Now, I'm sorry if this has already been discussed and played till boredom but I can't believe what i just stumbled upon. The classic, one of the best text adventures ever, Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has been transformed into a graphical version. And no, I don't mean some lame point-n-click downgrade (though that's what I'd probably prefer :P) but the original thing, only with a graphical display of what you're seeing! It's an online game however, sorry modem users, but others, enjoy this gem. Two different versions (from different illustrators) there btw.

It definitely was mentioned the day the page was born (even earlier, as I just remembered (http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=682)), but I, for one, was on dial-up back then. Now I will be able to play it for a change, so thanks for the remainder!

too bad you can't save your game and continue later... or can you. This is such a classic.

Yep, you can. Here's how.
Save and Restore
You can type 'Save' at any point to save your current position in the game. To continue playing later type 'Restore'.

If you're registered with h2g2, and tick 'remember me' when you sign in, you'll see a list of all your saved games. Unregistered users will have to settle for choosing memorable saved game names that other people won't guess!

We recommend that you save regularly to avoid having to restart in the bedroom each time you die!
