OK I love this game but I have two questions, first what do I do to put the symbol somewhere and I have talked to everyone and clicked left and right on every what on earth do I do to make it 730!? Thanks.

The symbol was a N like symbol. On the wall outside where he died.

When you click on the symbol and go into examine/close-up mode, you'll hear Samuel say something to the effect "I need to record this somehow" - use Samuel's camera on the symbol.
