Hello, Everyone!

I have been reading the forums lately and have been captivated by many of the strikingly original posts and thought I too should add some flavor before departing for an evening romp through the town.

For me, playing adventure games is a ritual. I set my time out very particularly and enjoy games just the way I want to, comfortable and relaxed. Yet, our playing experiences may also lead us into sometimes embarassing and just plain stupid adventure game playing moments. Oh, don't shy away. You know exactly what I mean. And that includes you... yeah, you, way in the back.

I recall when I first began playing Blade Runner. I was a freshman in college, home for the summer, playing on my tiny single unit PC crap E-Machine. It was hot in my parents home and we had no air conditioning. Yikes. So, as I played, I stripped off my clothes and proceeded to stand in front of my computer, playing Blade Runner in the complete nude. Hey, it kept me cool. Well, as I progressed through the game, I came to a moment when I heard my bedroom door open and a yelp in the early a.m.s and found my sister had stumbled upon me by accident, eating pudding and playing an adventure game in the buff.

Yeah, sad. I know.

I say it is about time we reward dorks like me with the first ever (and maybe only) Dumbest Adventure Game Moment AWARD.

So who would like to nominate themselves or someone else?

Looking forward to sharing your embarassment.

Kirk

I would like to nominate you.
The good thing is that since your dumbest moment was so awesome, I don't even have to try to find mine. It couldn't compete, anyway. :D

That story wouldn't have worked without the pudding, but with it, its brilliant.

Hello, again!

Ok. I wait a day, return to my thread and feel really odd.

Why?

Well, thinking I might not be alone in my embarassment, I realize that my experience has now become the sole contestant for the Dumbest Adventure Game Moment AWARD. Sad.

And to think that I told you all about my naked with pudding experience to get you motivated to share. Seems like maybe I'm the only one here who gets hungry and extremely hot during my adventuring.

Ha.

I am always naked and eating pudding when I play adventure games, but it's not embarrassing because no one knows about it.

...oops!

C'mon! VOTE IN THE MOTTA'S!

I'm fighting a losing battle with my award too. Actually, I'm going to make a thread on it at JA+ and paste it here so you can laugh at some of the discoveries.

Oreo. Chocolate with a little creme.

I like my pudding as exciting as I like my bathroom experiences.

In that case, I request you getting disqualifed from the competition - cause there's really nothing embarrassing about it if it was chocolate pudding!!!!1moreplease :D

I at first thought that you meant moments when playing where you'd try everything, get stuck for hours and hours, perhaps finally consulting a walkthrough, and when you finally got it, you'd smack yourself in the face for being such an idiot. I've had a few of those.

But I can't say I've experienced anything like your little adventure.

Well, talking about dumb in-game instead of real-world something I did in The Journeyman Project may qualify.

For those who haven't played the game it was node based with movement benig forward, backward, turn left, turn right. I was in the mars section and I'd used the mine train to travel across the complex. Having completed an important game objective I then decided to try taking the mine train back. I went back to the station and confidently stepped off the platform. At this point it became clear to me that I was standing on the track and not in the train car. At this point the sensible action would have been step backwards.

I chose to turn right instead.

My last moments, prior to my needing to save/restart, consisted of looking at the rapidly approaching light of the mine train Oh, and thinking "Aaaaaaaaggh!!!" :o
