The Longest Journey - chap 3 - eye

I'm stuck in chapter 3 trying to get into the archival room. I know I need to get the glass eye, and perhaps first the AG unit. With the lights off, the cop still notices that April has his eye, so I'm guessing the AG unit will somehow help out with that. I've tried all my other items on the eye without success. But maybe I'm be just coming up with wild ideas because I've gotten walled.

Getting the AG unit is a problem, because I'm not sure how to distract the guard. I think I should give him the soda to supposedly relieve him of his cough, but I'm guessing I'll need to spike it in someway so that he'll need to leave the scene. Maybe he'll join the cop in the bathroom.

I think I've tried my inventory items with everything, so I'm worried that I'm missing something (I almost passed by two items before). The stuff I've got right now: cashcard, photograph, diary, plastic leaf, pushpin, candy, sticky candy, ring, flute, delivery list, pocket watch, soda, mirror shard, and screwdriver.

So the the two things I'd like to know are: am I missing an item, and will I need to take the subway elsewhere to complete this puzzle?

Ah, you have to go and get your toy monkey from the cinema (you should still be able to go there, I think). He has a loose eye.
