I'm not sure how many forumites here are UK-based, but the new issue of Edge magazine (out in stores here on Thursday) is set to include a feature on the future of the adventure genre. Just thought those who are able to grab a copy would like to know.

The magazine has a basic homepage here:
http://www.futurenet.com/edge/
The issue featured on the page is the 'old' one, the new issue with the adventure feature comes out here in a couple of days. I don't know if you can buy individual issues from that site if you're overseas – I would imagine that it's a subscription or nothing. It might be worth dropping them an email though just in case.

Sophia's Debt is an amateur game made with WME. Can't understand why they picked that of all the amateur games made...

Just a quick update – I managed to pick this up last night, so here's a few details. It's a six-page feature on the perceived 'death' of the genre, and why there is hope for the future. There's comments from Revolution's Charles Cecil, Dan Connors of Telltale Games, this forum's very own Steve Ince and the guys at Hiding Buffalo, who are behind Gumshoe Online.

This is slightly off-topic, but another magazine featured an adventure game article, and the name may surprise you.
It was Nintendo Power, the new issue with the DS on the front, and they had a section in the forum discussion page called "Point-n-click Rebirth." It wasn't a full-fleshed article, but it discussed how adventure games in the mainstream industry were pretty quiet, and told how the DS was ideal for point-n-click with the stylus. The article even mentioned Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and Sam and Max! Interesting read. It also mentioned Another, the DS adventure game.

Because it's 3D?
I don't know... But the independent/amateur scene could use some better PR.

I picked up the Australian issue a few days ago. It just so happened to feature the article. It was an excellent read. Props to Steve Ince ;)

Props to Steve Ince ;)Hey, thanks. I've just been answering some questions for a guy who's writing an article for PC Zone (UK) on game writing. Due out March or April, I think.
