Well a bit back (a year or two) my friend went to a supermarket. He saw a few interesting game boxes there. He was a GK fan like me so he bought one of the Gabriel Knight Mysteries Packs. Sure, it looked a bit like it had been driven over by a car (a huge exaggeration of course (well I actually haven't sen the stuff, but of course it is)). Well, it cost around 2€ (Unless he totally remembers wrong)... The only problem was the book was a bit folded and a few small things like that, but otherwise it was OK. Nothing actually broken...
I mean come on. 2€! That's ridiculous! And of course as I went there the next day or so, they were all gone (he told me there were a few of 'em...)
:\ :(
They sell games in the supermarket in Finland?
That would make my games vs. food dilemma *really* difficult...

Some of our supermarkets sell computer games also, and computers, and TVs, and Home Theater Systems.... everything. I get so distracted when I go grocery shopping now

Well, umm... I'm not excactly sure how you define a supermarket, but yes. Most just sell recent games, but this particular chain at least also has older (random) games...
Too bad I always go to the one next to it... I might find some good stuff there sometimes (I'm thinking very rarely though...)

I believe in Europe SUPERMARKET means DEPARTMENT STORE in the USA. That's from my experience growing up in Greece.

You probably ment SUPERMARKET as in GROCERY STORE, right?

Dammit, that's the word... I knew supermarket is not the right word...
(Edit): And no, I did mean Department Store... I don't go there every day, but I do still go there. And Grocery stores rarely have anything else, but... groceries...
You may be referring to a Walmart or KMart-style behemoth store which sells everything from groceries (often of questionable quality) to clothes (often of questionable quality) to electronics (often of questionable quality)?

I was in a Bell Grocery store about 4 years back and I remember seeing Zork: Nemesis there. I would have bought it if I haden't been on vacation at the time. It's was $20 if I remember right.
Aww, and here I was having such wonderful visions of going to Safeway (grocery store) and finding a GK Mysteries on a shelf in the produce section. :D

Not yet, at least...

As I now see that Finnish have come here, the shop is Citymarket... Some of you may be more knowing of the American ways, so how could that be described? I know it's not Wal-Mart size, but you know what would be a good comparison?

I would call it a department store, but if you don't understand what Uptimist is talking about, think small size Wal-Mart and I believe that you're quite near the truth.

That's quite common

Over the summer, at one the local grocery stores, I bought Myst 3 for, like, $9.99. It and some other games were on a DVD shelf. Have never seen any games there since. Strange. Oh, and of course, there was the period of time when I was buying cereal to get the game CD's inside, lol.

Yeah, you're right. I can proudly say that I've never been to a Lidl store in my life, and if I can help it, I never will either.
I've heard how they treat their employes (especially in Germany) and it sickens me. :r

Here's fodder for nightmares: if Lidl stocked games, which games would those be?

I'm quite afraid to answer that, but I guess Midnight Nowhere would be a good choice, and I don't mean because I played it and it sucked, but because of the particular distribution that it's getting here (a 5E jewel case that would scare most people off).

I just got Myst 3 from Play.com for 7.5€. I really liked it, even though I generally think puzzles tend to distract from the story in adventure games. I guess I like Myst-like logical puzzles more than inventory-puzzles.
