I started playing this game a few days ago and now I am stuck I am not that far in the game I am in the lift shaft and am suppose to use the rope and tie it on the handle of the trapped door but my rope is up in the upper left hand corner of the screen in the black part. I have no idea how it got there when I found it I clicked on it and assumed it went in the inventory but for some reason it is in the wrong place.
So I gave up and started a new game I am now to the point I am suppose to go into the church but the door is locked so I looked at a game walkthrough to see if I might have missed something but I did everything I was suppose to and still can't get in. There are also items in the upper left hand corner but they appear to be items I already used. I can't find any information on weather items are suppose to be in the upper left hand side of the screen. Can any one help me out I have no idea what to do now.
Is there any way to proceed in the game or do I have to start over yet again?

That 'second inventory' thing it's clearly a bug, I experienced too in the final hours of the game, although it didn't do anything bad except showing items in that top left hand corner.

Anyway, you can't enter the church in the first chapter, I don't know what have you done until this point but you're supposed to wait for the infamous package to arrive. The church's clock should sound 7 times and Samuel will decide to go at Black Mirror by himself. I'm guessing now, so you should have spoke with the gravedigger, looked into the graveyard at some interesting graves and loads of other things in the manor and in the village.

I have been to the morge with the key and opened up the trash bin, I found the letter and put it together and I got the film developed and got the ticket to redeem at the pawn shop and did that now I am suppose to be able to get into the church but nothing happens.
On the first game where I got stuck with the rope being up in the left had corner I can't access it so I can not go forward in the game. I clicked on it but nothing happens so without the rope I can not complete the task so I can go on.
I will admit I am not good with computer games I am probably to old for them *lol* it ticks me off that I have now played this game two times and something keeps happening.
Is there any kind of patch to download to correct the bug?
I was reading other peoples problems with this game and someone mentioned there are saved games at mystery manor but I have no idea what mystery manor is since I am new to this form.
I am about to pitch this game in the trash it would not be so bad to start over if you did not have to walk all over the place over and over again and lisiten to endless dialog maybe I should try to find a saved game then I can go on and get stuck again in another part *lol*

First of all, you should get the diamond inside the clothes (with the knife) found in the duster bin, that you should use with the two combined objects you should already have. And of course you should always talk to everyone. Done that, the church should be open, or so it happened to me. As far as I know there's no patch, cause there's no show stopping bug (but there are a few dead ends, like when you're about to get out of the mine, REMEMBER!)

I deleted the game from my computer then reinstalled it then started over and I am right back at the church and can't get in. I have no idea what mystery manor is can you provide the link to it and I will try to find a saved game so I can at least get into the church. I am beginning to think this game was a waste of money and my time. I have started the game over 5 times now and still am stuck at the same place. I went back through the game and made sure there was nothing I missed I clicked on everything and talked to everyone I even went to a walkthrough site to be sure I did not miss anything and I have everything I am suppose to have so I have a feeling it is the game that is screwed up.

thanks for the link I tried to download the saved game but I am getting an error message about my computer does not recognize the program that made the saved game, guess I will just give up. Thanks for trying to help

Just checking to see if you got my email I sent you on the file for the game you said you would send. After trying many times I could never get the saved game file I downloaded from mystery manor to install.

Again, no need to post twice, and the only way to get a key is either to contact TAC (The Adventure Company) or buy a new copy.

Oh and of course there's another way, but I'm sure you already know that :D
