Yes it can. You need to jump through some hoops to get it to, though.

First, your PC needs to be able to mount Mac volumes, so you'll need something like MacOpener (http://www.downseek.com/download/21542.asp) or another utility which allows Windows to read Mac discs.

Next you need to download the ScummVM tools from the download page on ScummVM.org . In the tools is a program called "rescumm" which will convert your Mac Sam & Max data files to PC format. There are instructions on how to use it within the program itself (though be prepared for a little fun, it is a command line program).

Actually, the "rescumm" step might not be necessary any more if you download the latest snapshot build of ScummVM, as from what I heard a little while back, they were working on integrating the functionality of the rescumm tool into ScummVM itself (meaning if you download the latest Windows Snapshot build from the download page, once you got the Mac CD to load up in Windows, you could just copy everything over to a folder on your PC and chose "add game" in ScummVM and select it).

Good luck :)

How do I make my mac version of a game work?
The majority of mac versions won't work without first extracting the resources into a format ScummVM understands. To do this you need to use the rescumm tool in the scummvm-tools package. An example usage might look like: rescumm "Sam & Max Demo Data". Some CDs may appear to only contain a application, in which case there is still a seperate data file but it is invisible. The older games which have LFL files should only need the platform set to 'macintosh' to run. See 4.5 (http://www.scummvm.org/faq.php#4-5) for information on specifying the game platform.

Can anyone tell whether the above is a mac or pc version, the auction stated pc version but i think otherwise.. there is also a blue note seen saying" attention window 95 user" i assumed it is warning the inability to run on win 95? the disk design of the pc version should be plain silver and not the design same of the game box right?

I don't think so. At the very least it means it can run on some version of windows. And therefore that it's not the Mac version.

And ScummVm makes your games work even on a matchbox, so don't worry even if you have Windows 95 - ScummVM will make it work.

You can scoff all you like, but I got BASS working on my oven today.
(burnt my lunch though).

I believe that is the PC version. Mac version would have the "Power Mac Native" dot on the front:

More on the different releases here (http://lucasarts.vintagegaming.org/index.php?do=item&itemid=140).

Thanks to Freddie and his excellent LucasArts Museum (http://www.vintagegaming.org) site for that pic and info. I owe him a Grim Fandango CD which I've managed to loose. One day it will arrive at his door. :(
