I know this is probably rhetorical but has anyone ever been able to get this game running? I have Win98se, NVidia GeForce 5200, 2.2 Ghz. I cannot even get the game started.

I had to run it in software mode, if that helps. Your PC specification is certainly high enough to run the game.
