There's an interview (http://www.gamespy.com/interviews/september03/spector/index.shtml) with Warren Spector over at Gamespy. Quite interesting. More due to his comments on the gaming industry than actual stuff about DE2. Check this out:

"I think that the challenges for us, the places where we really didn't even try, are in the areas of non-combat character interaction. That's the next big frontier for gaming, especially story-based character-driven gaming, which is, to be frank, the only stuff I'm personally interested in. And that's where our focus is going to be at Ion Storm for the foreseeable future at least."

Very interesting, indeed

Very encouraging. I like the direction that certain companies in today's gaming industry (such as Ion Storm) seem to be taking. The industry as a whole isn't on a trend towards story- and interaction-driven gameplay, but I'm seeing enough of that recently that I've been much less pessmistic about the future of gaming. Definitely a positive sign.

There's also an excellent article/interview on PC.IGN.COM with Spector here. http://pc.ign.com/articles/437/437677p1.html

Every once in awhile a big movie opens, we all go out and see the movie.

:P they surely know how to pass their free time...

"Why don't we just kill off everybody on Citadel Station? We can just unask the question about how to interact with characters." And it's like, "Oh my god, what a great idea!"

lol

Excellent interview on Gamespy, I'm sure it would be really interesting to see Spector and the ISA team work on a license. No doubt they could make a decent Matrix game, as opposed to Shiny's rushed "Enter the Matrix".
