Gladius is one of those games that was the butt of all jokes, but now actually looks like it could be quite decent. I'll be interested to see more reviews of it.

Hmmm, for some reason I thought this was coming out for PC as well. Did they cancel that version, or was I just totally mistaken in the first place?

This game looked fairly interesting, but it didn't seem like it was really going to turn out that great. Has anyone with connections played it?

From what I understanded, Gladius was never mentioned to be a PC game.

I personally never thought that it was interesting.

I watched DJG play it on the gamecube... does that count? ;)

Seriously, though, it looks pretty cool.

And no, I don't think a PC version was ever in the works.

We were at LucasArts right before Gladius was announced, and they were showing it to us (and it was looking super unimpressive - that has changed slightly), and we said "is there a PC port?" :( They looked at us like we were the most retarded retards. I was annoyed. Of course I guess that makes sense. Wacky sort of Square-ish style RPG's fare better on the console side.

This (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/gladiusonline/news.html) must be what I was thinking of. Any relation?

I remember it being announced before E3 2002, so probably about 2 years.

Games are usually revealed after a year or-so of development. I think it's closer to three.

Is it just me or have a lot of LucasArts games gone gold recently? They're not really waiting for Christmas, apparently?

Maybe it's a sign that they're giving products the development cycles they actually need, instead of rushing for holiday or summer releases. That'd be cool :)

Gladius has been in development since at least the beginning of 2001. Spaff and I saw concept art from Gladius in May 2001 when we were in the San Francisco area after E3 that year. So it's probably been in development since late 2000, which is a while. The Gladius team said LucasArts agreed to give them as much time as they needed/wanted to get the game done. Oct 28th is close enough to the holiday season that it will still count as a current game on Thanksgiving weekend (the big fatty holiday shopping weekend in the US, in late november, for those who don't know. also something about pilgrims).
