I downloaded and installed the Aura demo (http://www.gamershell.com/download_6179.shtml) yesterday and although I'm more a fan of games like Uru and Mysterious Journey 2 with full 3D graphics I kinda liked it.
I remember playing Myst and how much I disliked it because there was no way to move or turn, I felt trapped and the nice graphics didn't make it better.
But the way Aura is made I can get on with, so I was wondering if the other Myst games Riven and Exile are more like Myst or more like Aura? Being a big Uru fan it always bothers me that I never played the original Myst games...
I also heard about a game called RealMyst. What exactly is this?
Thanx,
Marko

RealMyst is a 3D version of Myst. Movement was similar to Mysterious Journey 2. It has extras like animations and weather effects. It has one added "Age" at the end called Rime, which was not in the original.
Exile allows you to pan around, but movement is node-based. Similar to Aura I think.
Riven had beautiful, but static images.

Thank you, but can you tell me where I could find a demo of RealMyst and/or Exile? I found a few links, but the files weren't there anymore... I'd like to try them first before spending money... :)

Before you start the demo, watch the trailer (http://www.nwe.ufl.edu/~tharpold/resources/myst/realmyst.html). Just a bit breathtaking, heh. :) I share the sentiment with you, I first bought the original Myst several years ago, tried to play through it, but got disgusted with the slideshow format and the lifeless flat pictures. I unistalled and forgot about it. Then realMyst came, and THAT's when the game's universe cracked open and I 'walked' into it. After all, the Miller brothers really did originally envision Myst to be that way, but the technology in the early 90s wasn't yet available for commercial computers.
