Hi:
I am wondering that PENDULO Studios do have any Plan to port "Hollywood Monsters" to PC in English after the Huge sucess of "Runaway A Road Adventure" :)
If so when do you guys have any information regarding it.
Thanks and bye.

Considering how long it took to get Runaway in english, I wouldn't get my hopes up too soon.

Hmmm?

Aw, come on. The fact that it's been released in several countries now must mean something?

Copies of Hollywood Mosnters and Runaway are a dime a dozen here....
In Spanish... :frown:
You can even get Runaway in a DVD edition...

A DVD would be nice. Although I like Runaway very much, I have to say that the copy protection scheme is the most annoying since Klingon Academy's 'hey, let's spit the CD out of the drive at random intervals' approach. I mean, seriously, since when do you need to swap disks when you do a friggin' complete install? What kind of a god would allow that?!

Hollywood Monsters was once released in the US. It's apparently hard to get though, the publisher sucked and Pendulo never saw any royalties.

Jen

I don't think it was ever "officially" released in English. I played an English-language version of it that was given to me by a prospective publisher who had gotten it from Pendulo. The translation was incomplete; many sections of it (including the closing cutscene) were still in Spanish.

Spanish.

Pendulo Studios is located in Spain, and both Hollywood Monsters and Runaway were made in spanish first then translated. Runaway seems to have done so well in Germany that a sequel is under way. But I imagine that will start life in Spanish, with a German translation made at the end (and hopefully an english translation; though judging by the GMX mess with Runaway I think the sequel will actually arrive in the UK before the original)

Jen is correct; Hollywood Monsters has never been published in English. I'm led to believe this is quite a shame, as the game is supposedly very long and very humorous. I've always thought it looks fantastic. It's pretty obvious that the visuals are by the same team responsible for Runaway.

However, and I can't say too much about this because I'm not sure I'm supposed to, there still exists a fairly reasonable chance that this game may be released in English in the fairly near future.

Speaking of spanish adventures does anybody know if "Mortadelo & Filemon" (http://www.mortadeloyfilemon.com/index2.asp) made it to any other countries? I think they call it "clever and smart" in other countries... I think...

A Mortadelo and Filemon adventure???? I've only ever "read" it in spanish, but all the wanton cartoon violence in those comics would be interesting to see in a game.... :D

Well, you name spanish games and you have all the spaniards in the thread :)

Hollywood Monsters... really, you don't miss a lot with this game. There are virtually no clues to the very tricky puzzles (think of the most annoying parts in Runaway: Hollywood Monsters is like that), and the humor rarely works.

The Clever-Smart,Mortadelo-Filemon,Fred&Jeff (so on) game is a remake of the ... er, third adventure made with that license. There about 7 or 8: the first two are horrid, and the others are third-person short adventures but nice to play, though the one which is being worldly distributed, "an adventure in terror" (or something like that) is the longest and better one. Simple cartoon graphics in a game whose best point is being one of the few really classic adventures in the last years.

No official wording from anyone yet from PENDULO :(

I think they are fully concentratring with their energies on Runaway 2, but I must say after that they must think about to port Hollywood Monsters in English as there is already previous Beta with them so it wont take them a while to develope the final product :D

By the way, Runaway didn't have an American AND a UK publisher?! I remember it had a non-American English version, and an American English version. In the American version, the Twin towers were removed from the intro... am I wrong?

Yeah, I have an italian version (11hz dubbing, urgh!) of Hollywood Monsters, and I really don't see the bother to translate another run-of-the-mill 1997 2d adventure game that nobody remembered anyway. Not even after it was rereleased in a dvd style version a couple of years ago.

Pendulo's first game, Igor: Objective Uikokahonia, DID see an official retail English release, right? I could be wrong, but I think it even had two releases - on floppies and on CD (with voice acting). So, how come they translated their first and third games, but not their second?!

Good luck with that :shifty:

If this will be the case, I hope they'll make it better than it was. Not just release the 1997 game with a translation. Update their engine or something would be preferable. - Selling it cheap per download, like Telltale Games.

I don't think that info is correct.
There was an English beta version. That's all. Parts of it still in Spanish too.

100% Agreed the info is not correct. HM is never released in English however an English beta was circulated but has taken back :( WHAT A SHAME :(

They might consider to bring this as it not require immense working because an early beta is already been on their shelfs.

Well, moby just says the game was released in the US, it doesn't say if it's in English or not... :9
But seriously, yes, it probably is a mistake. Such mistakes on moby and underdogs are bad for collectors, because they spread disinformation. Important sources like these two should be more careful when they post info.

A full english version was never released. I still think it looks like my kind of game. That would be excellent if they released it in full english. IMO :)

Don't get me wrong, I would friggin' love to see them re-release their older games in english. I would buy them in a heartbeat. But.... I think that it very unrealistic. Pendulo is neck deep in Runaway 2, a major commercial release that has quite a bit of hype attatched. Why should they divert resources from that project to re-releasing their old games that would only be of interest to a few hundred people tops. It would just take to long and be to costly for them to spend their time doing this. Again, I to would love for them to update these games but I really don't think it would be to their benefit.

I agree. I wouldn't want them to take away people from Runaway 2 either.
Because of course they (hopefully)have to still re-do that one in english.
But afterwards it would be nice to see an english version of HM.
