I guess somebody in here should have played it.
Is it any good?
I am considering buying it.

I haven't played the game but read about it a little on the old Adventure Gamers forums. It pretty much got mixed reactions... Heres the Quandary (http://www.quandaryland.com/2001/Hitchcock.htm) Review. :) (Quandary can be extremely gushy though. :))

There is a demo? Why haven't anyone told me about that?

I bought and played Final Cut for like one hour before packaging it up and taking it back to Gamestop to get my money back (this was before they changed their return policy). It's an extreme waste of time, with very little to recommend for either Hitchcock aficionados or adventure gamers.

It's just a peace of s..t, has nothing to do with great masters' works. Don't buy it, don't try it.

You might want to take some of the crits here a tad seriously, as the game received mediocre scores from the reviews. I've played the demo myself, and my summation from that is that arxel tribe (now defunct) lacked the originality and inventiveness in carrying the great director's influence over to their game. The whole concept is actually pretty corny and stupid, in the worst way. I mean, come on! The game rewards you for solving puzzles by showing you cutscenes from Hitchcock's movies? Can you say 'lame-ass' and 'unimaginative'?

First of all, the stories of Arxel Tribe's demise may be a bit premature. They have (or are expecting) financial help from their parent corporation to at least see them through the release of Hannibal in November.

Second, though I know a few people who loved The Final Cut, I personally found it virtually unplayable. And no, this was not because of the direct control interface. It was because you are thrown into the game with absolutely no idea of what the plot or objectives are. Nothing you do or see makes any sense because you have no real conception of what the game is about, who you are, or why you are doing the things you are doing. It was like watching a mildly interesting foreign movie with no subtitles and big, important exposition scenes edited out.

My gawwwwd, I sincerely hope so. Hannibal is one title I'm crossing my fingers for, along with the thematically similar Call of Cthulhu. I've been keeping track of Hannibal since it was first announced, but when news came that arxel tribe bottomed out I was crestfallen. Perhaps Hannibal will turn out so good that they'll get supported again.

Is Hannibal going to be an adventure game, or an action/adventure (or just action for that matter, I suppose)? It's listed as an adventure on GameSpot, but we all know how accurate their genre definitions are...

It's technically an action/adventure with investigative and narrative overtones, i.e. heavily story driven. So sorry, conservatve hardcore adventurers need not apply http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/owen/PBsmile2.gif.

Well, I'll try anything once ;) I assume action/adventure means 3rd person shooter type of thing?
