Is anyone running So Blonde in true widescreen mode?

Whether or not I select "widescreen display" in the settings, the game runs in what looks like 1024x786 resolution, with black bars on the sides of the screen.

I suspect widescreen may not be supported by the game, because where would the inventory go if there was no room for the black bar at the bottom?

So, I would like to be sure widescreen support exists before I try to troubleshoot it.

Thanks in advance.

i dun have so blond, but this is likely the problem:

short answer:
the blackbars is way that ur graphics drivers or monitor handles 4:3 aspect ratio resolution scaling (centered or fixed-aspect ratio)
u need to change the way ur gpu handles the scaling to stretch-to-fullscreen

wut kind of video card do u have?

if its nvidia
go to the "nvidia control panel"
go to "change flat panel scaling"
and choose "use nvidia scaling"

long answer:
if the "widescreen display" in the game is wut i think it is
(like in other games)
it doesnt technically change the resolution of the game
it only changes the pov and scales the ui, etc, so that it appears properly scaled 16:10, except still on a 4:3 resolution

in order for this to work properly
the scaling from ur graphics driver/monitor needs to be on stretch to full screen
normally, this is unnatractive because its a distorted ratio and makes everything look fat
however, the widescreen setting modifies the image to proper ratio

this setting will not work if ur scaling is set to fixed-aspect-ratio instead of stretch
and currently urs is set to centered, as shown by the black bars
so u need to change that

Thank you, snaek. You answered my question without even knowing my system specs.

Here's what I think the story is with "So Blonde": The game is not designed to fill a widescreen monitor. The "widescreen" setting fixes the distortion you would get from stretching the game screen -- meaning the setting adds black bars to the sides if the video card does not already do so. If the video card is configured to preserve a fixed aspect ratio, there will be no difference between regular and "widescreen" modes.

On my system (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M graphics card on a ThinkPad T61 laptop), the best thing to do is to turn off "widescreen" mode, because it also adds very thin black bars to the top and bottom of the screen.
