Sometimes a song comes along that i really connect with, Amy Studt's "Misfit" was one of these. Then her album came out and I thought she was a bit of a one hit wonder, but a few days ago I bought it anyway and wow, the scary thing is misfit is probably one of the weakest songs on the album..

Upbeat. Crazy. Different. Original. Powerful. Classic.

Definatly the best album in a long time, although sadly its sold poorly and none of you have probably heard of her :( For some reason the UK prefers manafactured talentless banal sterile pop and not people that actually write their own music/can sing in tune/have some kind of soul.. its their loss i guess.. time for some CTRL+P-ing :D

"Ladder In My Tights"

Yeah, yeah, yeah, shoobydoo.
Just one more word and I'm gonna explode,
I'm gonna self combust,
I'm gonna blow up the world.
Just one more look,
You're gonna cross the line,
I mean over the edge,
You're on thin black ice.
Oooh, there's a little bit of psycho in me I confess,
Why'd you wanna pick on me and not the rest?
Does it make you feel big?
Does it make you feel better?
So tell me how's the weather?
If I just had a little more time,
I'd get some duck tape and silverware,
Oh if I just had a little more time:
I'd show you the world is so much better when you find you don't fit,
There's a ladder in your tights,
Who gives a uh,
If whoops you aint shiny and perfect.
There's a ladder in my tights and that's the way,
Uhuh, I like it, and that's the way I feel about it,
You'll be trying to hitch a ride with me, when it finally hits you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
With just one more push trying to make me your clone,
Marking me outta ten for the label on my clothes.
Just one more squack and I'm gonna hit back,
I'm gonna burn down your house in a heated attack.
Oooh, there's a little bit of devil in me I confess,
Cos you wanna pick on me and not the rest.
Does it make you feel big,
Does it make you feel better?
So tell me how's the weather?
If I just had a little more time,
I'd get some c4 and dynamite,
Oh if I just had a little more time:
I'd show you the world is so much better when you find you don't fit,
There's a ladder in your tights
Who gives a uh,
If whoops you aint shiny and perfect.
There's a ladder in my tights and that's the way,
Uhuh, I like it, and that's the way I feel about it,
You'll be trying to hitch a ride with me.
Hey, you will all be coming round,
With the time that you've found yourself,
Free yourself from the crowd.
Yeah, the world is so much better when you find you don't fit,
There's a ladder in your tights
Who gives a uh,
If whoops you aint shiny and perfect.
There's a ladder in my tights and that's the way,
Uhuh, I like it, and that's the way I feel about it.
World is so much better when you find you don't fit,
There's a ladder in my tights,
Who gives a uh,
If whoops you aint shiny and perfect.
There's a ladder in my tights and that's the way,
Uhuh, I like it, and that's the way I feel about it,
You'll be trying to hitch a ride with me, when it finally hits you.

"Misfit"

So you think you got it all worked out
You got your hotpants on
You got your arse right out, you
Think you're something but you ain't special
And me and my drop-dress, we won't do at all

Spent so long tryin' to fit the prototype
Kept a stick in the gears and I never got it right
What's the use?
What's the point?
You've got the wrong girl, oh

Keep what you don't want
Doing down there
Cos I'll be flying higher
Waste your own time
I don't care
Anything you can do, I can do better

All you girls
You look as if you hate me
What'm I doing still here, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
But, baby, that's ok
All you girls
When you look into the mirror
Tell me how do you appear, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
(Ah)
But that's ok

So you got your little groupies and gangs
You got your VIP
Your member-only things
Your happy-clappys and your VC crew
And if you get in their way, they got 10 on you

And I don't wanna be in that game
Don't wanna follow the leader, no way
What's the use?
What's the point?
You've got the wrong girl

So you can do what you're doing down there
Cos I'll be flying higher
Waste your own time
I don't care
Anything you can do, I can do better

All you girls
You look as if you hate me
Why'm I still here, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
But, baby, that's ok
All you girls
When you look into the mirror
Tell me how do you appear, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
You're superficial
I'm a misfit

So what we don't look the same?
So what we don't, so what we don't
So what I don't play your game?
So what I don't, so what I don't
So what if I don't?

All you girls
You look as if you hate me
Why'm I still here, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit (misfit)
But, baby, that's ok
All you girls
When you look into the mirror
Tell me how do you appear, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit (I'm a misfit)
You're superficial
I'm a misfit

All you girls
You look as if you hate me
Why'm I still here, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
But, baby, that's ok
All you girls
When you look into the mirror
Tell me how do you appear, well
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
You're superficial
I'm a misfit
You're superficial
I'm a misfit

But that's ok

Yes, but is Britney Spears still a whore? And is Justin Timberlake actually a closet queer? :D

I dont get why the media is all over justin timberlake, hes a micheal jackson wannabe and dropout from a crap boyband that no-one cared about.

Hes an ugly talentless bint, who in the past has comitted the worst crimes against fashion, completely bloody full of himself and Britney is way better off without him. Plus his last single flopped heh heh heh

Hey, he does a better job of being Michael Jackson than Michael Jackson does, at this point. And Britney is way better off without him WTF????

I'm a little Britney-fan, myself. :o
I know you don't get it, but I think her last stuff has been brilliant
and I have loads of respect for her doing her own thing, and not just be another Pink/Avril wannabe trying to be rock when they're really pop. :(
So as far as mainstream music goes, I have a little soft spot for Britney Spears.
And Justtin Timberlake can do whatever he wants without me caring.

*thinks about starting a rant about the big record companies that own poor 'innocent' little britney's ass and everything that hangs at it but decides not to*

LOL, those pics are funny. They're so........posed and fake and arch and self-consciously ironic. *sigh* Post-postmodernism. I'd like to punch the guy who thought those pics up, but not adams himself.

I'm an idiot to set myself up for that question. It changes semiannually, approx -- last I checked, it was Place to Be, but I haven't listened in a while, so it might have changed. When I first got into Nick Drake, it was the Pink Moon album, for its instrumentation and lack of interference from others (I've heard it referred to as auterism? not sure...); then I got into the Five Leaves Left album for its melodic intricacy and all that other floofy stuff; then I was finally able to get past the scary accompaniment on the Bryter Layter album and accept those songs as really well-written; then I got into Pink Moon again because I fully understood the significance of the mood change that that album encompassed. Scary stuff.

More than you ever wanted to know, eh?
