My favourite adventure game single scene setting would be two locations from 'Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb'.
The mountain river area with the tall trees and catnip plants in the Wild Lands.
Tycho Northpaw's cottage at night overlooking the Wild Lands.
:z
Oh, and Mordack's Castle (see my avatar).

I love Atlantis: The Lost Tales setting. Beautiful places and I am one of those who truly enjoy looking up and down and turning left and right :) I love exteriors, especially. Do not mind almost nobody is out there. Good, at least nobody can distract me from my eyes feeding lol. Really beautiful. And the music... This game is so atmospheric. I do not mind that itīs linear. My number 2 game of all times.

My favorite area in any game is Plunder Island in The Curse of Monkey Island. The quaint little town of Puerto Pollo, the jungle, the swamps, Danjer Cove, wow so much fun! I want to live there. What am I doing here in the snow?!

Oh, of course, nothing compares to being aboard the last train before WW1 and see the place with those familiar faces again and again...

Riven-it's so pretty and surreal, I love every bit of Riven.
Saxton-The Lost Crown. I love the quaint feeling of the town. Although Dowerton Station from the first game, I fell in love with the hotel.
Arcadia-The Longest Journey. It was so magical, no pun intended, and old fashioned. I loved it, and it was great to see it in a different way in Dreamfall. :)

Rubacava is amazing^ ;)
On the docks at night, with the changing music at each locale. The lighthouse, the mortuary, the central area...
Another love of mine are the hand-painted backgrounds in KQV and VI. For example, the Dark Forest in V, and the crossing with the Nightingale in VI. The music is really serene at the Nightingale, which adds beauty to the scene.
I am intrigued by Riven but don't own the game. I would play it just for the fascinating locales.
Keep these in mind, I had this planned for a future top ten list question :)
The Frobozzy underground world in Zork: The Grand Inquisitor.
The surreal dream world of Obsidian... walking on walls! ;)
Riven, yes.
And the beautiful real-life island of Capri in Anacapri: The Dream.
hi,
i'm new here, hope you don't mind me stepping in on this.
my favorate set must be the age of tomahna as it portraited in myst 4: revelations. probably becuse it was the first one i saw in this game who was incredibly immersive, and the serene and peacefull atmosphere. the sun shining on the fresh leaves, the great marvellous canyon, birds wisthling in the wind, and small tedails like butterflys, lizards and bugs. i could swear i felt like i was realy breathing that mountains fresh air.
also riven and the St. George Rare Book Shop (from gabriel knight 1) must be include. they realy managed to make that book shop homey and comfortable and a place you'd like to come back to at the end of each day, as well as fitting perfectly with gabriel's character.

I'm a sucker for English mansions, cyberpunk environments and Noir themes, so what comes to my mind first is:
Clark Field's gloomy mansion in Darkness Within, Stark in TLJ and Rubacava In Grim Fandango.
All of Riven's islands also need to be mentioned for its beauty and serenity.
