Killaware interview (2007, Gamasutra) (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=15903)

We've had many DS adventure games coming from the land of Japan, the one coming up soon is an interesting titled called Lux-Pain. The game was originally released back in March 2008 in Japan. The English version was announced a while ago, but it wasn't until recently that more info has started to show up. Although the game is hardly getting much PR.

The game was developed by a relatively new game company called Killaware. First formed back in 2006, Lux-Pain is one of the company's first game.

The game setting is based around the supernatural, where humans are infected with parasites called 'Silent' which causes them to commit murder and crime. Make sure to check out the official pages for more info and media, and also the interview which reveals more about the gameplay. It seems the touchscreen will get used a fair bit.

The feel and look of the game is certainly Japanese, they're even keeping the original Japanese names for characters and location in the English release. Probably more targeted for all those Japanese purists out there :9.

I'm not expecting too much from this game, although it seems like it may hold a few surprises. No doubt this will get compared with Time Hollow.

Sounds interesting. The US website links to a Nintendo Power preview that makes it sound promising. And yeah, it does seem similar to Time Hollow - which I liked a lot, so no complaints from me. ;)

Been anticipating this game alongside with Time Hollow. but every region got Time Hollow luckily (even if I have yet to aquire that game)
Looking forward to see how well it turns out :). However the scratching the surface for parasites is a bit gimmicky so I hope it has some sense than random trial and error.

It's a bit to manga in style and presentation for my taste, and even the story seems to me a bit stereotypical (Cabin Fever is just the first title the pops into my mind, but there are many other), at least in its premise. Anyway, I'll wait for the review and then I'll decide :)

Another nice find. Thanks for the heads-up, Trickless. Developed by ex-Atlus people? Should be a strange one. :D

Hehe, just noticed a couple of mistakes written on the luxpain.com website

The Story section wrote:
Atsuki goes through a dangerous operation to acquire Lux-Pain in his left arm, a power so strong that his left eye turns golden when using it to seek and destroy Silent for good.

And in the Charcter Bio for Atsuki:
His left eye shines gold at the expense of getting his power.

Looking at the several artworks and the box cover, it's quite clear it's his right eye that is shining gold.

D'oh!

This looks interesting! And the EU publisher is the same that recently published the equally very Japanese style adventure game Flower, Sun and Rain for DS on the EU market. I'm glad I went against almost every reviewer's advice not to buy that game. It's horribly underrated and so much better than I expected.

I didn't care much for Time Hollow though.

:D
I'm now doing all my adventure gaming on the DS. I loved Time Hollow and I hear this one is at least as good.

It is on my "games to watch" list.
