Ok, so I downloaded and installed (it was somewhat tricky, but I managed to install it) the Thief Gold demo on my windows 2000 computer, since I wanted to test Thief better, but to my dismay it didn't want to work. When I start the game I press "New game" and "Play" and the game just crashes back to the windows desktop without a sound. Anyone knows how to deal with this and perhaps get it to work?

On a side note: I downloaded 4D prince of persia at the same time from the unmentionable site (which has a name similar but not at all like overcats). This DOS game works perfectly with not a single problem (except that it isn't a very easy game).

Why is the um...beneathCanine :shifty: site unmentionable?

ragsie, I funnelled your problem with Thief II along with my problem with Thief: The Dark Project to the Ion Storm forum (http://66.193.119.177/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=209002). Hopefully someone will have a workable fix for both of us. Oh, and what's your graphics card? I'll include it in the post.

BTW, I also have Thief II: The Metal Age, but haven't yet played it!! Unbelievable!

I have a ATI Rage 3D Lt Pro (or something like that, it's shitty, I know).

I actually have a (hopefully rather shortterm) plan to acquire a new computer soon.

btw, it's not the thief II demo, but the thief gold demo which should be Thief: The Dark Project, i.e. Thief I.
