King's quest 7 Vista help

I have just purchased the original King's Quest 7 CD and am unable to get it working. I have Windows Vista and have searched everywhere for help with this. Everyone seems to have problems with the game but I can't even get it to install. When I put in the CD I can hear it load but nothing comes up, when I explore the E drive it isn't even showing that I have a CD in the drive.
Can someone help me with this issue? Thanks!

Look on the CD for a file named "version" and open it in Notepad. Report the version here. For certain versions of the game, I have an upgrade that will upgrade it to version 2.
