L'Amerzone grapnel problem

Recently I purchased L'Amerzone on-line from the Adventure Shop. I'm stuck on the river. I've reached the pechosaurs and scared them away with the bees. Now I'm trying to go further but the grapnel doesn't work. I can throw it, but it doesn't stick. I've tried almost every pixel on the screen. Does anyone know if there is a specific place I have to click on? Or maybe this is a technical problem?
My system runs Windows XP SP3 on an Intel E6750 with nVidia 8800 GT card from XFX

I don't think it's a technical problem, you just have to find the right spots on which to click the grapnel. You'll know if you've gotten the right spot if it shows the grapnel and line shooting out toward the rock and propelling the craft forward as the line is pulled back in.
