Okay, this is bugging me. I got invited by Enlight Studios to be in the beta for their upcoming Joan of Arc game. Trouble is, you have to mail a physical signed NDA to them... at their office in Hong Kong. I'm trying to think of a way they could have made that even more inconvenient without actually requiring me to hand it to them in person, but I'm drawing a blank.

Thats not too bad is it? The stamp may cost a bit but it'll be worth it right?
Anyway, I love Enlight (Capitalism, Cap Plus, and Cap 2) which is probably why I'm defending them hehe :D

What about Seven Kingdoms? I loved that one but I usually lost to the computer so I didn't finish it.
I guess they expect some sort of sacrifice from you considering you were given a free version of the game...
But given the fact that you were invited and didn't really sign up or ask for it, it seems unfair that they make you do this... :shifty:

This stunt is gonna get shoved right back up Enlight Studios's ass. First, you never make it inconvenient for anyone to beta test your game. In a way, they are doing you a favour, taking the time to test your product, you're not paying them. Second, read First.

Quite frankly, I can't see the problem. So you have to send a letter, so what? Where's the massive inconvenience in that?

Agreed. I got accepted to beta test the One Must Fall sequel, and they required I mail or fax my acceptance, so I faxed it at a Kinko's but it wouldn't send. I e-mailed the one e-mail addy I could find, and got a response three days later with one sentence, something to the effect of, "Yeah, fax was down." No comment on when it'd be back up, if I should call ahead, when this was due (though I get the impression it was overdue on arrival), etc. Grr.
Luckily, I later got a much cooler game to beta test. Hee. :D *insert "shushing" smiley*

Why don't you ask them if they're going to reimburse you for the international postage from sending the written agreement? Why don't you ask them if there's any way they can compensate you for physically walking to the post office, paying for the mailing yourself, and generally making any kind of effort when you've already volunteered your time to test their product?

I beta-tested the OMF sequel too, but I just scanned the NDA paper and e-mailed it to them. That seemed to go fine by them.
