A couple of years ago, back when Syberia first came out, I downloaded the demo and ran it on my Windows XP which ran fine.

Recently, I've installed the full Syberia but every time I play it, it freezes after a couple of minutes of playing, and forces me to manually reboot.

I've changed my video card over the time from an nVidia GeForce 2 MX 400 to ATi Radeon 9600.

Also, my anti-aliasing is off.

Anyone know how to help me out here? I run games like Broken Sword 3 fine.

Also, long as I'm here, anyone want to point me to some good adventure games? I've already got Broken Sword 3 and The Longest Journey, in complement with the mentioned Syberia.

I have encountered similar problems playing Syberia and Zanzarah. I finally determined that my AMD CPU was shutting down from overheating. The CPU would run at 40 C for nearly everything, but these two games pushed it up to 47 C and higher. I think my motherboard shuts down at 50 C. I alleviated the problem by moving my system case around until I got better air flow through the case and got a location that let the hot exhaust air disperse rather than get sucked back into the case. Check your CPU temperature with one of the utilities or the BIOS system health function and see what temperature your CPU is after running the game just shy of the time before it usually bombs - while you still have control and can quickly check the temperature before the CPU cools off outside of the game.

I guess that some of the newer games are exercising some core logic on the chip that normally doesn't get much use and heat builds up quickly unless the cooling is tip-top. I only had 15 C rise from case internal temperature to chip temperature, which indicates good heat sink performance - it was the build-up of heat in the case that was the problem. Hope this puts you on track in solving your problem.
