Example, dracula origin, sherlock holmes, black mirror, keepsake, sinking island,
nostradamus. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these games and am so happy they were made. But do you think there are enough games being made with futuristic themes and graphics, eg, like moment of silence, tunguska, next life, and perhaps too many set in medieval or otherwise historic timelines? I personally love current day and futuristic graphics as much as period settings and I'd like to see much more of those. Would you, or do you think the balance is just right?
Maybe there are more futuristic games out there than I can think of. I love high tech backgrounds with fancy buttons to press, automatic silver doors that open and close with a star trek type noise, robots, lasers:D

Having said that, I just discovered perry rhodan which has great reviews, so that's a must have! And how good is culpa innata?

i liked culpa innata a lot, and thought it the best game i've played all year. If you're into futuristic dystopias, you'd like this one. I think that the storyline is extremely interesting, but some areas don't get the full exploration I wanted them to...there are a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up, but now that there's a planned sequel for it..i'd say go ahead with the game.

In all honesty, I don't care what era a game is placed in as long as the storyline is compelling, the graphics are at least acceptable, the character acting is satisfactory, and it takes more than just a little bit of thought to complete the game.

Thanks for your input Aubstopper. Anyone else feel like commenting or is this a really boring topic?

Perry Rhodan brill. Probably the best adventure I've played in ages.

Culpa Innata is a close second. It very non-linear set in a futuristic utopia state where only smart thin beautiful people are allowed to live. Great game.

And how good is culpa innata?Perry Rhodan was pretty good, and the very high level of polish (good voice acting, great graphics, lots of attention to detail) sets it head and shoulders above most recent releases.

I didn't really like Culpa Innata. The setting is great, and since an interesting setting is what you were after, you'll probably like it. What bugged me about it was the non-linearity that some others praise. To me, it felt like the same story was told each time, using the exact same elements, only shuffled around a little.... possibly creating plot holes and inconsistensies in the process if you did something in the wrong order. The story didn't really branch out much based on your actions. You could just miss out on parts of it.

I'm currently playing perry rhodan. Or should I say, perry stobbart! That's good old george stobbart's voice, I recognised it immediately :D

Game looks fantastic. However, I'm getting sound glitches every time someone speaks, little pops and crackles. Anyone else get this and is there a way around it? I use a soundblaster live card. Turning graphic settings to low didn't make any difference either,

Your hearing is slightly faulty ;) It isn't Rolf Saxon.

Well since you posted, I did a search and others think the same as me, so although it might not be him, I'm amazed you can't hear the similarity. :)

The only thing different is that perry rhodan's voice is slightly deeper than rolf saxon.

I guess making Dracula ,Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie you are restricted to an era. I think it would take a brave game maker to modernise these games. But you are right there arent that many games with future story lines, there are some crossovers like Journeyman Project, using time travel, not sure where Starship Titanic fits in, also Schizm is another weird one that doesnt really fit into strict category.

I would enjoy more futuristic, sci-fi type adventure games (Dreamfall is a good example), but they seem to be more popular story lines in games like Halo for the Playstation or Xbox.

There is one really great, sci-fi game that I love but you have to fight quite a bit. (lots of shooting, throwing things, jumping, etc) It has a great story though, lots of humor, endearing characters and the aliens will crack you up, especially their "evil leader". If you don't mind the fighting/shooting, you'll enjoy the story and humor as it unfolds. You play a professor, a talking dog, or a janitor who have come together to save the universe from alien invasion! Let's just say you have some interesting "weapons". Atomic toast anyone? ;)

MDK2 (it's a sequel to the first MDK, but I liked this sequel much better)

It was released as a PC and Dreamcast version in 2000, but re-released for the Playstation 2 as MDK2: Armageddon.

I wish they'd make an MDK3. I usually hate shooter games, but I loved this game because it had a great story and characters, and the graphics were great.
