I've been trolling around the forums a while looking for a good list of adventure games based on humor. I have a large collection already but trying to find some new stuff in this genre is harder than it seems. Most companies today stick to horror, mystery or action. Here is a short list of what i have so far but it's not all of them. There are just too many.

Liesure Suit Larry 1-8
Sam & Max Season 1, 2
Wanted, A Wild West Adventure
HCA: The Ugly Prince Duckling
Gabriel Knight 1-3
Space Quest 1-6
Kings Quest Complete Collection
Police Quest Collection
Phantasmagoria 1, 2
Quest For Glory 1-5
Toonstruck
Lost in Time
Full Throttle
CSI 1-3, Miami
Nancy Drew 1-18
Zork Complete Collection
Runaway 1, 2

That's all that's in the first CD case. The others I'd have to dig out of my gaming bin since I have yet to unpack them. I much prefer humorous games but will settle for any other good ideas for new adventures.

Theres a Leisure Suit Larry 4 and 8????

I'm sure everyone knows there was never a 4, and 8 is easier to type than Magnum Cum Laude. Although 9 (aka: Box Office Bust) is scheduled to come out next month. I already have it pre-orderered

I was hoping you didnt mean Magna Cum Laude - a complete insult to the name Leisure Suit Larry

I've only played the LSL 7 game. That was enough for me.

I don't see how some of the games mentioned, Gabriel Knight, Phantasmagoria and Nancy Drew, were based on humor.

I didn't see any Monkey Island games on the list.
Jack Keane is goofy and humorous.
So Blonde should be on there, though I haven't played it myself yet. Waiting on US release for that one.
Limbo of the Lost has some pretty funny graphics, but you might have to be hit on the head with a frying pan to appreciate them, and I hear development stopped on that game, for some reason...

No Simon the Sorcerer games either, I can only assume he has never played them

Jack Keane was great but was never able to get all of the statues in the museum. Have all the MI games even if Escape from MI was terrible since they tried to put in Monkey Kombat instead of insult sword fighting. As for LSL 8, it was ok for a quick laugh but I have to agree that it was the worst LSL made. I hope the next one is thought out better. And, lastly Simon the Sorcerer, wasn't really good for me. It felt too much like a Discworld ripoff. I really love the Discworld series, that I hope they do decide to actually make another.

By the by, I didn't just list humorous games. I'm just looking for new ones that are preferably humorous. I listed all the games that were in my youngest CD case. I have about 20 cases filled w/ games and game backups (for older games). I think about 5-6 of the the cases are strictly adventure games, some dating back to the early to mid 80s. Like the Zork collection I have used to be on a box load of 3.5 floppies but I was able to find the collection at a Half Price Books on CDROM about a year or so ago.

Have you played Gilbert Goodmate? I found that really funny, it is such an underrated game

Must be true since I've never even heard of it. I'll look it up. It's probably too old to buy though from the sound of the name. Hmm I stand corrected. Seems to be available for XP. Time to hit EBAY and other online shops.

Its about 4/5 years old, has the same style graphics as The Curse of Monkey Island or Runaway. I'd recomend it, I absolutely loved it, one of my favourites in fact

Well, no luck there. EBAY only had one of reasonable price but it's in the UK. Couldn't find it on any of the online shops I trust either. Maybe have to try for it another time.

If you want a funny adventure game look no further than Callahan's Crosstime Saloon which is without a doubt the funniest game I've ever played. The script is phenomenal.

Discworld 1, 2 and noir
Martin Mystere
Grim Fandango
Broken sword angel of death ( there are some funny lines in it)
Al Emmo
Lula 3D
Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender ( maybe)
Road to India ( haven't played it, but it looks like a monkey island type of game)

Don't forget Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist

Brimstone
08-27-2008, 02:11 PM
Discworld 1, 2, Noir I have and played to death.
Martin Mystere The only one I have w/ that character is Crime Stories.
Grim Fandango I have but it doesn't work as well as it used to. Can't get it to run on SCUMMVM properly.
Broken Sword Series I have all of those although Angel of Death is called Secrets of the Ark here in the U.S.
Al Emmo Have to check this one out.
Lula 3D Had at 1 time but it got destroyed when bro found it and decided to tell our mom about it.
Rex Nebular Had it a long time ago on floppy but really wasn't worth getting again.
Road to India Have to look that one up as well.
Freddy Pharkas I have it but I still don't get the copy protection on it. Have to get it by sight and i'm not that good at sorting colors.

As for other ideas, I have almost all the adventure games created by Sierra Online or Lucasarts. Those were my favorite game companies back in the day so if a game had either logo I'd buy it immediately.

Dang, no luck on Al Emmo at all. It must be really obscure. Still looking for humorous games but would like to hear about other games as well.

Currently waiting for:
So Blonde
A Vampyre Story
LSL: Box Office Bust

Actually, the Adventure Shop has Al Emmo (http://adventureshop.gamesplanet.com/US/produit.html?product_id=574&category_id=14) for download buy :)

If you can speak German, there's Edna Bricht Aus. Best adventure I've played in a long time, also with plenty of humor.

Brimstone

Sorry don't speak German well enough to play a game in German. As for Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, a friend of mine actually had a copy burried in his room. It's not all that great, especially since I can't even figure out the first riddles. I'm usually good at word association but I still can't figure it out.

Just finished Al Emmo and was somewhat disapointed.

#1 Way too short for the price paid.
#2 Humor was good in a LSL meets Freddy Pharkas sort of way, but voices started to get more annoying than funny halfway through the game.

Otherwise, the game was O.K. with a fairly decent, if somewhat predictable, storyline. Anybody have any more ideas of good humorous games?

I know you said you didnt like Simon the Sorcerer, but if you havent played it try Simon the Sorcerer 2 - that is one of the funniest games I have ever played.

Also, Tony Tough had a few funny moments, its a bit of a last resort though

Discworld 1,2 and Noir are the most funny adventure games i ever played. Also LucasArts games and Beavis&Butthead in Virtual Stupidity (only if you like them).

Got all 3 Discworlds and most of Lucasarts titles. As for Simon the Sorcerer, I guess I could hunt it down again. Don't have many ideas until some of the new games come out later this month and the next.

Well actually found a Simon pack with 1 & 2 on DVDR. Actually funny stuff even though the puzzles were a bit vague. About to start working on Simon 2 soon. Give it a few days and I should have finished it. Really need to find some newer stuff though. Just went to Fry's Electronics today and looked in their Adv. section. Didn't find a damned thing that was even worth the effort. Most of what they had were mystery, horror, or bland sci-fi. I can hardly wait for any of the games I mentioned early on to come out.

Nah I much prefer adventures that take alot of time to play. Also I'd rather have hard copies so that I can delete a game, forget about it, then find it and play it again.

Well I just played Simon 1 & 2, am currently looking for 3, and just got 4. (I love overnight FedEX) Anybody got any other ideas that I can hunt for??

You really should see, if you can dig up a copy of:
3 skulls of the Toltecs.

It's the prequel of The Westerner (Wanted, A wild western Adventure)

I loved those games - and can't wait for the next to come out.
Fenimore Fillmore's Revenge (http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=979) :D

I gave up on it after a while. It felt more like reading a book than playing a game. I do enjoy reading books but about serious stuff, for comedy I'm a visual person I guess.

I'll have to look up 3 Skulls. Wanted was not that great in my opinion. The controls were real glitchy and the humor wasn't that great. I'll try anything once though.

Well just finished Simon 4. Actually was a good series despite it's likeness to DW. Still can't find Simon 3D anywhere though. Any suggestions on where to look? Can hardly wait until some new funny games come out.
