Pretty dreadful match, though, but Santos said so beforehand that he’d rather win with an ugly match than play beautifully and lose.
Both teams had their chances, but during the extra time, Portugal was the better team.
Goes to show that you only need to win one match during normal play to win the Cup.

Not forgotten, he did get a lot of talk for man of the match here. Uefa also naems him best keeper award for the tournament, not just because of yesterday’s match, but had a very solid tournament all around.
Other nominated players were Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro and Ronaldo. I think deserved because they did stand out but it was mostly a team effort. Fernando Santos used all players except the substitute keepers and most of them started games.

Congratulations Wilco, I am truly happy for you.
Portugal’s victory was a sad day for many football fans. As I was in Greece it was as if I attended a funeral once Portugal scored. The whole downtown district with all its bars watching the game turned silent lol.
Anyway..a great day for all the Portuguese.
I have said it before in this thread and I said it during the game: Any team is better off without Ronaldo. Him getting substituted was truly the worst thing that could have happened to France. His performance during Euro Cup again shows while he is clearly behind Messi. Another half final and final disappearance act.
Rubbish Euro Cup is over and club football start soon. Looking forward to seeing Man U feat. Zlatan.
