Arrived in the cottage. Nigel tells me he will only sleep when he's through investigating, but I have been wandering around for ages, looking for something new to do. In despair I went for the walkthrough. Apparently, there should be a cat in the chest near the bed. Well, there isn't and the chest is unclickable. I even went back to a much earlier save and did everything in the exact order of the WT. Still nothing. :frusty:

Help!

Maybe I should mention that I'm playing the game in compatibility mode (win2000) because I got an error message: unable to locate ordinal 1334 in IML32.dll etcetera. Don't know what that is about, Shock Wave or some Plug? My old XP computer meets the requirements but only just.

Help! Help!

You have to get the key to open the chest

Yep, that's what the WT says as well. But there are no hotspots for the chest and the key (in the eye or something). So either I missed some essential trigger or I ran into a bug. :\

You have to her the thumping sound in the chest, like something is inside before you can examine it. To trigger that I think you have to examine something in the house...Nigel will hear the thumping sound from wherever he is.

Thanks, without your reply I would probably have given up. After replaying the part in the house 3 times and clicking on every damned windmill I still don't know what the trigger was, but I finally, finally heard the cat and everything was fine. ;)
