Sanitarium-Will it play on XP?

I purchased Sanitarium and I have Windows XP. It installs but after a few minutes of play, a text box appears and says it has to shut down. I have read that there is a way to be able to play these older games. Can someone please enlighten me? :)

It ran fine under XP for me ...
But as far as I know there are two seperate releases of this game and the older one is buggy in XP. Have you installed the patch? Also try running in compatibility mode under Win 98, I think there already are some threads about this if you search the forums.
If all else fails you could try running it through DOSBox.

Yes, there are two versions. The original release, published by ASC Games in 1998, the second by XS Games, LLC in 2002 which I know defo works on XP, as I played it to the end only a few months back.

Rarely do the more obscure adventures deserve play, but I can safely say this is one of the best told stories in video games ever. Easily in my top 3 adventures.

If you're still having trouble, try downloading 'Dosbox'. That usually plays the older adventures, but requires a bit of patience. Download Dosbox , sign up to their forums and get as much advice as you can

I don't think that Sanitarium has a DOS version. The XS version may or may not run on your XP box. My copy is the XS and it will play on some XP boxes, but not others. All you can do is try. If it doesn't play, you can download a virtualizer and install 98 in it to play the game.
