I've searched the forum for threads where my problem is described, but couldn't find any. Hopefully someone out there can help me out.

I've just installed Tex Murphy Under a Killing Moon on my old win-98. Installation seemed to work fine, but I need to start the game in DOS and trying it I get the message that I don't have a mouse installed. The game requires a three button mouse and I originally have a two button mouse for that particular computer. I switched to a three button mouse (that works fine in windows) but the problem remains.

I'm really lousy when it comes to fiddling around and finding the source of such problems. Some help here would be greatly appreciated!

Try this excellent guide.
http://videogamesoapbox.blogspot.com/2007/07/classic-video-games-on-xp-under-killing.html

It uses Doxbox, but it's not hard.
Also, he's very good at responding to any question you have on his blog.

Thanks misslilo. :)

Yesterday I found a guide on how to download the proper mouse drivers onto my old win-98. I found it here (http://www.microsoft.com/games/texmurphy/underakillingmoon/). It's in the Tips and Hints section in FAQ.
(If anyone else should run into the same problem as I did) I haven't tried it yet and I think I'll go with this Dosbox thingie and play the game on my XP instead. Wish me luck!

I'm no techie and you may have tried it already, but checking the box "Prevent MS-DOS based programs from detecting Windows" might solve your mouse problems in win98 (right click the file moon.exe -> properties -> program -> advanced ->). Click the executible and the game will think it's running in DOS when it's running under windows. Worked for me.

Yes, I've done that already and it did fix the mouse problem. My current problem on my win-98 is that I have the wrong sound card. :frown:

I'm still trying to get it to work on my XP though. I've installed DOSBOX but now my computer says I don't have enough space to isnatll the game. That's just not true since I have LOTS of space on my c:drive.
