View Full Version : Evidence: The last ritual email issues

I just got Evidence: the last ritual.. I did not play the game before it and at the beginning of the game it asks for a user name and an email address to register. However, no matter what email i put in it tells me that "This email address already exists. Each user must have a personalized email address. You can quickly set up a free email account on the internet."
Ive tried a multitude of email address, from different websites. I set up a brand new email address with yahoo(the website it brings up if you say you want to set up a new one), that did not work. I even tried email addresses that dont exist at all. Nothing seems to work.
Also I did find one walkthrough and I followed it exactly, logging into my email address and keeping the browser open as I started up the game. The same result happened.
It is running on Windows Vista(not sure if that has anything to do with it)

I doubt this will help, but it can't hurt. Try right clicking and running it as an administrator. Some programs I try to run on Vista only work like that. Like my WOW game. Good luck.

Please anyone have any idea why its doing this this seems to be a issue and no one is addressing it. It wont work when i got to create new email address too i've tried that at least 5 times this is getting very frustrating any one know a answer.

I'm having the same trouble as everyone else. I've tried multiple emails, created new emails, and have followed the directions of other users saying to open your email program prior to starting the game, etc etc. Nothing works. I have Windows XP. What is the issue and how do I fix it. Its very frustrating and I would like some answers ASAP.

I have been working on this for 3 days now, I see no resolution at all anywhere. I did just purchase this game and have visited there web site. I have e-mailed there tech support and to no avail have they responded at all. I am in the States and they are in Canada and I cannot call there without major fee's.
I recieve the message "This email address has already been used". The same as everyone else on this page. I am now under the impression that maybe the Company really isn't doing anything about it and will not try to fix it. Furthermore there really are not many forums or posts about this problem.
If someone gets some information about this please post here to let us all know the fix.

I've emailed them as well and haven't recieved any response. I've searched and searched the internet and have found nothing about this problem nor have I found a solution. I have this feeling I wont recieve any email back from them and that upsets me. I might try calling, however me being in Italy makes the phone call a bit a exspensive. I really want to play this game since I've heard good things about it, but with an annoying issue like this that seems to happen frequently to various ppl, I don't know if I ever will. Or if I'll ever play another game made from them for that matter.

Ok, I'm using xp and having the same problems. Like you all, I too have e-mailed with no response. I actually did call the corporate office and, guess what?
A recording told me they were closed for "renovations". Maybe they should spend some time renovating their servers. If anyone is interested in a class action suit, I'm looking into it.

Well isn't that...convenient. This upsets me more and more. Did it say how long the renovations would last?

...told me they were closed for "renovations".
Hm...renovations, huh?
Seems like there are a lot of email problems with Evidence and MISSING/In Memoriam. If their office is actually shut down because of this, it might mean that their servers have been mucked up.
Then again, that might just be corporate...:shifty:
Meh, I guess the best we can do is just wait it out, if that's the case.

I am also having the same problem and have tried all the above to solve it as well as adjusting firewall, virus and spam blockers, internet and email options. Nothing has worked.
I have sent several emails....but also have not recieved a reply.
I have played several other games from this company and have never had this problem.
I would also like to know there all the people who did the reviews got their info....unless one got it from the company and the others just copied it cause all the reviews are identical.

Just to keep you all informed.
I have emailed several of the "Reviewers" explaining our problem and asking them how they played the game in order to do the "Review".
I am awaiting an answer, if any, and will let you all know.

I try everyday to get in contact with someone...I too will post on this forum if I hear anything or find a solution :D
I called the dreamscape help desk yesterday, they said that there is a server problem, "you're having problems with registering right?" I said yes, he said "we're working on it and that it will be fixed soon." I asked is soon one day, one week , one month? He told me until they know what the problem is they won't know how long it will take to repair.
I also asked about having to be on the internet and in email while loading the game, he said you just need to have internet access and a valid email to register.
Good luck and keep trying...

Ok,
I have some updates, but not good ones.
I have email the following people.
Corp HQ
Ted Thompson
Eric Edwards
Philip Priest
At this time, (as of Thursday Feb. 14, 2007) I was told to do many things, but none of them fixed the problems. All of them we have all tried. I was then asked to submit a file from my computer (msinfo32). After this was e-mailed to them I have yet to hear back and have e-mailed Mr. Priest (4) times with not responed. I have no more information and will update if I get something new.

Well....its may not be a solution, but its at least an answer. I suppose we just sit and wait till the servers are working. I'll keep trying the game everyday, like I always do. If I manage to finally get through, I post letting everyone know it works again.

i purchased this game in 2006 for my son for X-mas and played it then. It is truly an amazing game. I didn't finish it because i got busy doing other things and changed my internet provider but when i tried to play with my new email it of course didn't work. i want to start over and for those of you who have not experienced it, it is worth the wait in my opinion, but just how long of a wait is debatable.

A few days ago, I just stopped getting emails all of a sudden... I assume that is do to this "server problem" of theirs as well?

Hi all!
Same problem here... :\
I bought In Memoriam and Evidence together. For one, I haven't received my password for In Memoriam yet (it's been 3 days since I registered) - had to apply all 3 patches in order to be able to connect to their server.
Evidence keeps popping the "existing email" message...
I, too, think it should be a problem with their server. I have emailed them and if I get any news I'll post them here ASAP.
Let's hope it gets resolved soon.

WTB some sort of light at the end of the tunnel.....It'd be nice if the developers could post or give us some sort of imformation as to when this will all be resolved. I'm getting tired of trying the game day after day, only to be dissapointed when it doesn't work for the millionth time.

Ok...we've all payed our hard earned money for a little bit of video game enjoyment, but as of yet, have been able to play the darn thing. Has anybody looked into getting their money back. I'm sure not everybody has their reciept of purchase, and even if we did, the stores that we bought this game from will not take back an opened game. Has anyone that's been in contact with "the powers that be" even brought this topic up??
Just curious.

I tried the game and noticed the brief message about the servers not working and that everything was fixed. However when I tried to register, it was the same problem as before...It doesn't seem like anything was fixed. /sigh

Edit: ok so I just randomly decided to "delete" my old account like it said, even though I never was able to register to begin with. For whatever reason, it worked after I did that and I have recieved my password! :D

I'm having the same issue with Missing, where I'm not receiving emails. I've used up all my regular addresses just trying to register. How do you go about deleting old accounts?

Well at the very beginning of the game where you register, there was a brief message from the game creator ppl saying to delete your old account by clicking a link that was there. This is for Evidence though so I'm not sure if the same thing is there for missing.

Ok.. Since I am the starter of this post I guess I can help you all out (if anyone cares anymore).
I also had emailed and was contacted by Philip Priest.. he was of no use at all, trying to tell me it might have had something to do with Vista since the game was not tested with Vista. After some problem solving of my own I figured it out and even sent Philip Priest a reply with the solution.
This was my reply-
"That wasnt the problem. I also installed the game on a windows XP computer and I ended up with the same problem. I found own solution after awhile though, it seems the problem was with the known free email providers such as Yahoo.com, Google, Hotmail, and Aol. (these all I tried and got the problem I had mentioned before). However I tried another free email provider, Operamail.com, and the game now works."
So if it still works you can use www.operamail.com to play the game with. It has worked twice as far as I have seen. (with myself and a friend.)
