Ok, I've finished playing Runaway and want to uninstall it, I run the setup program and get a little menu with Modify, Repair or Remove options.

Clicking Remove tells me if I want to keep my saves, etc, all normal so far, but then the program shuts down without giving any reason. I try again, same problem. I try doing it from the CD-Rom, again, shuts down, no error. Also tried to do it through Add/Remove Programs on Control Panel.

Clicking the Repair or Modify options gives me an error saying Resourse.000 is impossible to open and shuts down the Setup program. I looked up the file in the Runaway folder and it's there, so it's not missing and game loads and runs fine.

Any ideas? I like the game, but I don't want to keep it on my hard drive for eternity. I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm running Windows 98.

EDIT 2: I also saw this thread (http://www.adventuregamers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=33342&highlight=Runaway#post33342) before, but didn't help me much. The problem described is quite similar to the one I'm having, except he couldn't reinstall and I can't uninstall.

I lately had a similar thing with Thunderbird on my fathers PC. TB wanted to upgrade itself but kept failing. It turned out that one of the files was unremovable. I never found out why. We ended up renaming the old TB directory and installing the new version 'fresh'.

Of course this doesn't help you with your problem. But maybe you can try to manually remove the Resource.000 file and then run the Uninstall program?

Gave it a try, didn't work. I still get the same problem, the setup program shuts down when I try to uninstall or it gives me that error when I try to Modify or Repair.

Hmm, I would try to install the game again in same location, Restart you PC, then Uninstall it.
