I posted a thread a year ago detailing my problems with GK2. Basically, when the game cuts between movies at times, the resolution screws up and the game takes the appearance of vomit. This doesn't make the game unplayable, but is a major annoyance. Eventually I managed to finish the game again, but I had to play for about two minutes, save, exit, and restore because of this problem.
Then I tried to play my old Command and Conquer games; specifically, the original and Red Alert. The EXACT same thing happened; the game would be going as normal, but a FMV would load up, or I'd pan the screen, and the game's visuals would go to hell in a handbasket. This time, however, the game WAS unplayable, because I couldn't tell what the heck was going on, or whose units belonged to who, or what was what.
Today, I got a copy of Phantasmagoria and, after the DOS installation laughed in my face, I had to install on Windows. Well, wouldn't you know it, but the issue POPPED RIGHT BACK UP! The symptoms were the exact same as with Gabriel Knight 2, only a lot more frequent.
So, I also tried King's Quest V. Same issue.
King's Quest VI. Same issue.
Gabriel Knight. Same issue.
It seems to be that, if the game requires 256 color mode to be on, it gets screwed up. It also seems that I'm the only human being on the planet with this problem, since I cannot find a single bit of help online. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be banging my head against the wall.
