I was thinking that one of the reasons why we love adventuregames so much must be due to the locations the creators pick. In my case, since I don't get the chances to travel a lot, it's a big thrill for to virtually explore Mayan ruins in Pandora Directive and Broken Sword 2 and visit a mysterious area such as Rennes-le-Chateau in Gabriel Knight 3. And ooh, I love trains, which is why I love Last Express so much! So, my point is - I think that's among the great aspects of adventuregames... taking us to locations some of can only dream about.

So let's talk about which location in adventuregames you've played that stirs up your memories or perhaps your dream destinations???

So let's talk about which location in adventuregames you've played that stirs up your memories or perhaps your dream destinations??? I spent a week in München (Munich) last month, and it was spooky to walk downtown and recognize certain places (Marienplatz in particular) from Gabriel Knight 2. Also the public transport map felt kind of familiar... We didn't visit any of Ludwig II's castles this time although we passed one on our way to Salzburg, but I did visit at least Neuschwanstein when I was little and touring Europe with my parents. This time, we just enjoyed the hospitality of Finnish-German families in and around Munich - and the Alps were even more spectacular than I remembered!

Sometimes I dream about a place where I could live an uncomplicated, easy-going life without the stress and busyness of modern life. So I guess I'd love to spend some time on Melee Island (tm) only to wander around a bit, molesting a few graves perhaps...

I would love to spend some time in Rubacava.

I am sure that I don't want to go to Egypt and/or Atlantis - those are the two most over-exploited places in adventure games.

It is absolutly fabulous if there's a big city with skycrapers and creators give you the chance to look at the city from their roofs.

I remember I was completely charmed by Beneath a Steel Sky's second screen when Robert went to a blind walkway and misled the guard.
Also the panorama of El Marrow from the top of the DOD building was one of the many reasons I completely felt in love with this game.

In some interview with Jane Jensen I read that she was going to set Project Jane-J at a made up setting and university campus but due to the fact that GK fans love going to real locations (such as New Orleans, Germany, Rennes-Le-Chateau, etc) the games going to be based at a campus in Vermont or something... I think thats pretty damn good. :)

Definately would be awesome to go to Rubacava, Rennes-Le-Chateau, as well as board the Tarakan in Seattle, Washington.(Yeah I know... the Tarakan is made up... :))

I haven't played as many adventure games as I have travelled, but for one, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis really whet my appetite for some of the locations in the game. Not only were they beautifully illustrated but they were beautifully showcased too. Although that was the 1930s, I still envision the places in the game as they were and hope to one day visit them.

Then Monkey Island, meh, can't really go there.

I should play Broken Sword, though, from what I hear, it's fantastic in this area.

I think a university is an awesome setting for that kind of adventure game Jensen is doing!! I mean, for god's sakes, you moronic devs, we are fecking sick of Knights Templars, Egypt, Atlantis, blah, blah, blah!! Why not have a setting that's closer to home, especially since the story might involve exploring other dimensions and states of mind?

The opening scene shot of Paris in BS1...

as if you haven't seen that before, but I find it breathtaking. The best looking scenery I've encountered. That made me instantly fall in love with the game.

Rubacava. a place that feels like home. The opening shot of Broken Sword is indeed very familiar and comforting.
