Has anyone here played or heard anything about the two Les Manley adventures? I think their names are "Lost in LA" and "Search for the King." I saw these mentioned somewhere and they intrigued me as humorous adventures always do but I can find next to nothing about them on the internet.

I played Search for the King. It was like a PG-13 rated version of Leisure Suit Larry that wasn't funny. I don't think I'd recommend it.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them on abandonware sites about the place.

A friend and I bought Search for the King back when there were always a million adventure games on the shelves to buy; we thought it was awesome at the time. Of course we were about 10 or 11 at the time, so the prospect of seeing some form of breast, concealed or no, was enough to endear us to the game. Also being 10 or 11 year olds, we were more inclined to laugh at anything that has the potential to not be funny at all.

So that being said: they're probably terrible games, and complete rip-offs of Leisure Suit Larry; or at least feeble attempts to grab some of that market share.

I liked the Larry games as a young boy, but find them painfully lame these days, which is what I would probably have to say for the Les Manley games. Unless of course they involve a fun bit of your average adventuring.

Both Les Manley games had their own charm. They were obvious Larry ripoffs but they were OK.

The first was called Les Manely : In Search of the King and the second was called Les Manley : Lost in LA. I liked the first one better. I remember playing the second one right up to the very end and then I moved away from home so I believe I never played it again since then because I bought a new system.

I thought Accolade's "Altered Destiny" was also fun... by the same team I think.

Altered Destiny was awesome. It is one of my all time favorates but hardly anyone remembers it. If it had said Sierra on the box we's all be lamenting the fact that Altered Destiny 5 got cancelled, but maybe it didn't, but maybe it did and why-oh-why did they try to cram on-line kart racing into it. ;) Oh well, instead it reamins untarnished in my mind as a rare gem of a game.

I played the first Les Manly and thought it was funnier than the LSL games at that time. (I think it was contemporay with LSL 3 or maybe 5.)
