I play the game for the game's own sake.
Frankly, none of the games do justice to the books. So, anyway...
The Case of the Serrated Scalpel for me.
This poll is actually a devious ploy by mycroft to bump the new Sherlock Holmes game into the Hype-O-Meter.

Scalpel definately.
I played that one first and thought the story was very involving.
IMO the 2D graphics suit Holmes much better than FMV etc.

Scalpel is the only one I've played, but it was really good.

The only one I've played is Case of the Rose Tattoo. And it's one of my favorite games.

"Rose Tatoo" is the best. It's just one of the few games where I find FMV implemented rather good. Plus the story and puzzles are great.
Then, I guess, goes "Scalpel" and "Crown Jewel". I didn't play "Consulting Detective", but I heard it is more of interective movie, so I pass. I also didn't play "Mummy", but I heard only bad things about it, so I also pass...

Only played "Scalpel" and thought it was fantastic. Will try to buy "Rose Tattoo" off ebay soon.

You know, despite loving the "Sherlock Holmes" stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I have yet to play one of these games.
I do remember playing a Sherlock Holmes computer game from a long time ago that was set up like a board game and each person could take turns playing different people wandering around the city trying to get clues to solve the murder... Does this sound familiar to anyone?

My favorite is certainly The Serrated Scalpel, but I have been playing The Rose Tattoo recently and having a fun time too. It is just as good as the first one.
I didnt like Mystery of the Mummy, and thought The Consulting Detective series was just OK (interactive movies, not really games).

Oh, it DID use FMV. :) Live actors, as a matter of fact.

Do you men 221 B Baker St. from Datasoft. It was released at the end of the 80's, I think. You could even play Irene Adler in that one!
The best sherlockian gaming I have had, has been with the Consulting Detective, which is a great game. The playing takes place primarily inside your head, for in the game you can only decide which video you want to watch next. The cases are also well constructed.

That's not Full Motion Video, those are real actors' sprites on 3D prerendered backgrounds...

Sherlock Holmes...? I'm more of an "Hercule Poirot" person.

Hercule Poirot is a comedy Belgian, you know. ;)
And what's wrong with Miss Marple? Or Lord Peter Wimsey for that matter.

I love his elitist comments with which he makes the English seem like unsophisticated barbarians ^__^

My favourite is Scalple.
However, note that Scalpel and Rose are the only true adventures on the poll list - Crown Jewels is a text adventure, Consulting Detective are just interactive movies, and Mummy is, well... just another Dreamcatcher shitty puzzle-game trash - not what I would consider an adventure game.
As for the "other" - there aren't any Sherlock adventure games other than the two EA "Lost Files" games.
