I've just stumbled upon this game and I'm already blown away by its production values and FMV. The only problem I have is the incredibly distorted audio to the extent that I can barely understand what is said. Has anybody encountered this before and found a fix? Google search didn't turn up too many leads on this, unfortunately. This game looks to be a winner if I can fix this. *sigh*

I started to play this game 2 weeks ago and I encountered the same problem. Fortunately, there is an easy fix. (1) click on control panel. (2)Click on sound and audio devices. (3) Click on the audio tab and find the default device/default playback option. (4) Click on the advanced button and then click on the performance tab. (5) Lower the hardware acceleration tab down to none or the lowest one (experiment to see which one doesn't result in the crackling sound).
Hope this helps!

AdventureGamers to the rescue. :) Can't try it now at work, but this just came to me as well and I found some more information about this here:

Thanks for the help, I hope this will work.

Confirmed, this worked. I put it on the lowest setting, one notch up from 'None." Thanks again!
