i am stuck trying to arrest the drug buyer in the park.

20 times i tried to run after but he runs away.it says i mshould have a weapon

but my inventory is blocked once i run after him.with the gun i can't run

at all...................i am stuck and need help,or a cheat or a patch..

Consult a walkthrough or the PQ1 UHS file. There is a chance you may have to restore from an earlier point as early Sierra games were notorious for dead ends.

You have to alert them that you are there. Type "halt! police!"

I think Captain Dread is right. The trick to this game (and others in the Police Quest series) is that you have to follow procedure correctly. It's usually a good idea to check the manual for the procedure in a given situation so you can follow through the actions in game.

I'll try to remember to check my copy when I get in.

Is this the VGA version? If yes, I think you've hit a timing bug.

Either slow down the computer using a program like MoSlo or Turbo or DosBox, or try turning the speed all the way up and the detail all the way down before going into this part. (Err - or it might be detail all the way up and speed all the way down. I'm not sure, but I managed to pass this point by doing one of those things.) There is also a patch that I think solves this problem but it might make your saved games unusable. You can get the patch here (ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/patches/pc/pq1vga.exe).
