I was just looking at Wikipedia, the open-source encyclopedia, and it has a rather nice entry on adventure games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_game
It's missing a lot of specific pages on the games mentioned, though. Perhaps we could all help out and add more information?

This encyclopedia is quite interesting. Already added Green Tentacle, myself. :D

There is a Swedish encyclopedia, called Susning.nu also, they're entry on adventure gamers is here: http://www.susning.nu/%c4ventyrsspel
Could also use some more information.
Edit: I just added information about Broken Sword at susning.nu.

Aren't there a bit too many (English) encyclopedia-type things like this out there? I mean I would believe 1-2 could be comprehensive if a lot of people update it, but I've seen at least 4 of them. Don't remember all the URL's.
The adventure games coverage at Everything2 (http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=163276) is also very comprehensive, with plenty of opportunity to waste hours following all the pretty links. I think Everything2 has the edge over other similar encyclopedia-type things, simply because you're never more than three clicks away from vast topics you never knew you were interested in...

You're probably right, but I personally am only familiar with Wikipedia. It seems to be the most widely used internet-only encyclopedia, and possibly by extensive the most exhaustive? That is of course utter speculation and has no factual backing.

I was totally unaware of the Wikipedia. It's a brilliant idea! I added a short entry about TLJ, so if somebody was kind enough to proofread it, I'd be grateful.

I kind of prefer Wikipedia and Nupedia because they're based on the open-source intelligence principle. Both are released under the GNU license, which I don't think is the case with other user-created encyclopedias.
It needs a bit more attractive layout though. It doesn't have to be fancy. Something like Google or a 37signals (http://www.37signals.com/) created sites will do fine.

Ah, this online internet enciclopedia is actually good!
I remember one where the entries for fanboy were:
-Xbox loser :shifty:
-Gamecube geek...
This entry was obviosly made by a 14 year old PS2 "fanboy"... :P
But this one rocks! The entries are accurate and they even have entries for Godzilla and Megaman!

It doesn't just have info on pop culture. The real treasure is in the more typical encyclopedic entries. It would be cool if this thing were integrated into google, just like dictionary.com
