I'm looking for new (old too) adventuregames where humor is one of the main keys in the game
style:
monkeys islands, grim fandango, full throttle, sam&max, dott, toonstruck, ufos(this one isnt very wellknown I guess), discworlds...
I prefer 2d comic drawings, but 3d is okay too
any other suggestions?
thx!

Lessee here...
Duckman: The Legend of the Fall
Leisure Suit Larry
The Neverhood (though it's less of a verbal kind of humour, and more of a visual one)
Bud Tucker in Double Trouble
If you're willing to play some amateur titles, I also recommend Cirque de Zale and the Nick Bounty games. And if you have a DS, play the Phoenix Wright games.
Al Emmo, Duckman and the Neverhood... yeah! ;)
And...
Touche: The Adventures of the Fifth Musketeer (1996)
Stupid Invaders (2000) - one of those games you either love or hate
The Space Bar (1997) - a favorite of mine
Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths (2002)
and last but never least: Zork Grand Inquisitor! (1997)

I hate that kind of AD. I prefer something humorless.http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/cool/cool-smiley-011.gif
Torin's Passage is fairly funny.. sometimes. It was made for children but it was also created by Al Lowe so there's some humor in there for adults, too.
And this isn't an AG but you should check out Psychonauts. Very funny game and it's made by Tim Schafer (DoTT, MI, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle).

3 Skulls of the Toltecs (if you can find it). Great one.
The Gene Machine.
The Kyrandia trilogy (not pure humor, but at least as humorous as Runaway, which I like).
Flight of the Amazon Queen
The Simon the Sorcerer trilogy.

Seconded. And I sometimes laugh when I roll up people and pets in Katamari Damacy. :9

right,I heard that game was awesome, unfortunately when I`m playing I found the mouse slides too slow to control the movement ,maybe this game -so at least it seems to me-perfers the old system rathan than WindowXP.

Innocent Until Caught
Guilty
Simon the Sorcerer 1-3
Touche (started this one and thought it was pretty good, but never finished for some reason)
Diskworld 1-2
Tony Tough (well, I liked the humor but it was too much of just wandering around and talking to people with endless conversations. Never finished it).
Grim Fandango (never finished it).
Chewy F5
Beverly Hillbillies
Eye of the Kraken
Larry Emmo
03-24-2007, 06:07 AM
The Curse of Monkey Island
Neverhood
Oh, and who can forget Grim fandango and the port of Ank Morepork?
I dont get it, what does Grim Fandango have to do with Ankh Morepork (Discworld Noir), sure both Grim Fandango and Discworld Noir are in the Noir genre but I wouldn't call Discworld Noir a humoures game.
Chewy F5
A little suggestion: if you'll play it, turn the voices off. It's a fun and enjoyable adventure, but voice work is horrible to the point the game becomes unplayable.

Thx for all the good suggestions!
@ vina: I have myself a copy (no, not a COPY) of torins passage, and I do like it indeed (allthought its aimed at children)
I also have psychonauts on my ps2, but I should restart playing it (didnt finished it, but I'm a big Tim Schafer fan (arent we all))
@ squinky: Yes, Phoenix Wright is indeed one of the best games made ever, finished them both ;)
Gonna try some amateur titles now
thx again

Runaway isn't even slightly funny, it just tries to be but fails miserably.

Theres a huge lack of humour in games these days, the reason I love MI & SQ so much is because of the humour.

I dunno about that. I think the humour is more concentrated on the games interface. Take Broken Sword : Angel of death. Wasn't it hilarious the way the camera shifts as you click on something making you click more times than you had? Or how about not being able to click through conversations making you listen to everything twice because you wouldn't know if they were going to repeat or say something new? Happy happy joy joy!!!
On the other hand I am finding the new Sam and Max games a real treat to play and its humour is on par with the best of them.

I can't think of a thing funny about Jack Orlando. I despise that game. It actually makes me sad that I sat through that whole damn game thinking" maybe it will get better".
I really tried to like Al Emmo, but I couldn't do it. I REALLY tried. The characters just seemed stiff and forced, and when I got to the actual GAME I couldn't stand the narrator for more than 2 minutes before I quit. I guess it just wasn't my kind of humor. And I enjoyed Runaway but didn't find it funny, just fun to play for the most part.
Curse of Monkey Island was the funniest adventure game I've played, but the two Christmas Quests made by Adventure Gamers.com made me laugh out loud several times. Good stuff! (Short, though, since they were pretty much Happy Holiday cards.)
I want more humor based adventure games, but I guess they aren't exactly easy to make.

Perhaps the reason of the 'lack of humour' people suggest is because of the shift of where adventures are developed here in the big, wide world, and that effects the kind of humour we get now.
Most adventures appear to be programmed in Europe. From what I've experienced, Europeans have a different approach to what they do and don't find funny.
I'm saying that as neither a bad or a good thing - before someone feels I'm trying to offend them.
I've noticed much of the humour on television in the UK and US to be rather offending (in a funny way, obviously), daring and, to a great extent, pretty sick. Look at programmes like Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Brass Eye, Uncyclopedia, etc. Most humour stems from making fun of something else. Intertextual references, pointing fun at serious political and social issues.
It's just the zeigeist in the West today (wow, big word Terramax!). And I guess adventures just don't fit into the kind of humour we're getting today. Not unless we were to make more games like Duckman.
There is still talent out there though. Sod Sam & Max, make a full game of Nick Bounty damn it!

Stop there: europeans, we europeans [*cough*], laugh out loud equally at Sam&Max. The problem is that many adventure european or european adventure developers have no sense of humor, or must pay a visit to the doctor to cure it.

I agree that in some measure, humor is cultural. There are so many ways to laugh--insult humor, slapstick, absurd, incidental, farce, wit,...so much of whether or not a game's sense of humor is successful depends on personal preference, which is in some way, however small, influenced by culture.

But some of the best humour comes in a more pleasant way - the funniest thing in many years is Wallace and Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit. :D

That's what I mean. I think 90% of the best humour comes from more innocent fun. Which is why I generally tend to watch kids animations more than episodes of Family Guy. The problem is these pleasant stories are becoming more hard to come by.
Also, Curse of the Were-Rabbit was an anti-climax for me. It wasn't that funny, and most of the joke were yet more slapstick than the previous iterations ("Moon!" when the hunter's trousers are pulled down towards the end, etc). Chicken Run was good though.
