i just got my hand on a copy of harvester on the bittorrent network, i usualy dont donwnload games but i figured that since they dont sell this game anymore i'd give it a try.. i got it to work with dos box, but it was way to slow, and then there was microsoft virtual PC and the game runs but the mouse does'nt move. then i got it to run under win CP but the sound was extreamly chopy, i fixed the sound with a sound blaster emulator and now the sound is perfict but it tell me to insert the game cd even thoe it's in. and when i dont use the emulator it freezes up. any suggestions. i'm told this game is somewhat relms of the haunting.

So, you have "Harvester", eh? In spite of the end-of-days prophecies, and the bloodletting? Okay, here's what you do:

1. Remove the disk from the cd-rom drive.

2. Put it back in with the other cd's.

3. Get a shovel.

4. Drive out to the nearest landfill, and dig a hole to the Earth's hot core.

5. Throw the game down aforementioned hole.

6. Pray, pray, PRAY that the subterranean Mole Men don't find it and wage war on us "above-grounders" for creating such an awful, brain-shattering, morale-crushing piece 'o' crap.

lol. ok, so maybe not. But it's still the single worst game I've played, and my computer gaming days go back to the Apple II....it's just pointless, derivative, unimaginative, and plain not fun. And I'll play pretty much anything. Except "Harvester". Ever again.

I got a big kick out of it and thought it was funny as hell *D

So did I. It's one of my favourites! The game had this very specific Twighlight Zone feel that I loved. And, of course, it was as gross as can be! Love that.

Exactly, I always think of the Twilight Zone when I think of this game, and it had some of the corniest music ever! You just have to laugh! *D

I liked Harvester too. I got the first cd from a friend, but just before I completed it that damned f'er disappeared and I couldn't advance to the 2nd cd. :/
Later I downloaded it, but realized I had managed to loose my savegames, so I lost interest...

Anyway he gave me instructions to get it to run on XP. You had to first copy the contents of the cd to your hd, install it from there, edit some config files to make it point to right directories, then run it with vdmsound and it worked just fine.

I'm afraid these instructions are quite vaque, because I can't remember them so well. Try and figure it out by yourself.
