Broken Sword 4: How to get past the monks at the vatican

Hello

First post here and i'm stuck. In at the Vatican and trying to get past the monks in the Garden. I'm able to put the bread on the shrubs to attract the pidgeons but the monks never seem to notice and so i can't get in the door.

What am I doing wrong here ?
