Escape From Monkey Island installation problem

Hi!
I've got a serious problem installing EMI. The launcher works correctly, but when it gets to the component selection screen, there aren't any choices. When I click on next (somehow it's allowed without chosing anything) it only opens the readme in word, but nothing else happens.
I'm using windows xp +service pack 2 and tried to unload the firewall (zonelaram), the antivirus client (symantec corporate edition), and i've set the compatibility mode for the setup file too but they didn't help.
I know this is is an old game but pleeeze anyon help me caus this is rather disturbing...;(

You could try to...right click on your installation icon (setup), properties, compatibility, and then setting the windows type on the one the game was intended for at the time of release. It has worked for me a couple of times.

Yeah I've tried seting it to win98 and 95 too but didn't help...
