View Full Version : Amerzone - brightness
MadTricks

I just managed to get Amerzone, but in game everything is so dark.
Unfortunately, there aren't any options to adjust brightness.
Yes, I have dark monitor, and it's set on full brightness.
Are there any ways to get the game more bright?
Maybe some additional programs?

If you're using Windows your monitor preferences must have
advanced properties similar to this:

With that you can ajust your colors, etc.
I'm experiencing the same problem as MadTricks, but in Curse of Monkey Island.
Problem is, even if i adjust brightness settings (as Nautilus suggested), the game disregard all color settings and run in its own mode.

Sometimes you have to start a game, then press ALT+TAB to go back to Windows, adjust the color preferences and then ALT+TAB back to the game.

You'll want to go to the Control Panel > Display icon and then go to the Settings tab and play around there (possibly looking at the advanced tab). I was able to find it on my laptop at home but not on the one I'm using right now. Start there and see how it goes... :)

Somewhere inside there.

Hi, first post on this board :) ,
no ref to this, but am having issue w/graphics quality in Windows xp. no other probs xept lit skipping of aud/vid. followed all suggs but game play looks like etch and sketch. edges of objects are undefined and square. not horrible, but just foggy. am i too used to today's great graphics, or is there another issue i haven't fixed?
here are the settings:
Directx 9
Compatability setting: Windows 98/me
colors 256
screen res 640 x 480
disable visual themes
Turn off advanced text services
Accelleration- all are enabled(have lowered it on all notches with no affect on quality, actually prevented game from loading)
Enable write combining is checked( have unchecked it before and it prevents gameplay)
60 hertz screen refresh rate
Again i can play this game fine, but i feel like i am not getting the full effect. i love benoit sokal's artwork, but right now it is as if i am viewing it through a lens smeared with vaseline:frusty:
i will continue gameplay as is, but would like any suggestions.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, vlclaret. :)
Are you sure you need those compatibility settings? I mean, if the game was designed for something better than 640*480 at 256 colours, then it'd make sense for it not to look great when run at lower settings.
Also, I seem to remember than the 360° node engine made the game look rather bad (though I'm not sure; I haven't played that game in years, and my DVD seems to be scratched beyond use, but I remember thinking that it looked rather drab at the time). So maybe it's normal.

Thanks for the help,
will try to tweak those settings, but my husband looked at the screen and said it is supposed to look that way.
