Hello my dear and respected Adventure Gamers!!
In this thread you all must post your drafts. :)

We all know almost every self-respected adventure game needs drafts. So let's post them!

Here's my "The Neverhood" and "Runaway" drafts.

Rofl, you have no idea how much fun I'm having reading these, esspeccially cause they're in hebrew :D
The neverhood stuff really reminded me of drafts I did for the game, except I don't know where I put it. I also wrote down some symbols once or twice in TLJ. Too bad I lost these things :P

Please explain exactly what this is - I'm confused.

LOL, that's great, ChaosFish! I think the most drafts/notes I've ever written or drawn were for GK3, realMYST, and Blair Witch 1. Many of them were on post-it notes or the backs of envelopes, and unfortunately have since been discarded. I think the latest one I have is for Silent Hill 2. :P

Those Neverhood drafts reminds me of my very own lying on the desk right next to me. Except mine are in Norwegian. ;)

Yeah, had I only had a scanner...
Oh, well. One of them says BOBBY, the other has loads of signs, the third is a complete picture puzzle and the fourth consists of various tubes filled with water or other liquids :P

I think the word 'notes' more clearly identifies what it was/is you're talking about, but that's just where I live. When I hear the word 'draft' it usually implies something different.

That was my confusion as well. To me, a "draft" is generall the first version of a written work.

In any case, I don't think I save my adventure game notes, nor do I have a scanner.

I've always wanted to immortalize my notes, but I've never had a scanner. When I take notes for a class, I doodle like mad. My in-class doodles (where I'm the most bored) are always quite intricate and/or experimental. For a game, I don't doodle as much, but I always do create the strangest layouts. Rarely do you see me writing left-right top-bottom (the typical book style for us Englishers), or even orthogonally for that matter.

Trep, does any of my site work for you? (Click the link in my profile, of course :)) But yeah, it's a valid link and it's worked for everyone else I've sent it to...

Eh... I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but can you please keep on-topic? This thread meant for adventure gamers to post their notes/drafts they use in adventure games...

I've got a scanner but I'm too lazy to actually scan my adventure game notes. :)

Did anyone else construct elaborate Monkey Kombat notes only to find out afterwards that you can't use them again the next time you play the game due to the fact that the puzzle was random... :)

I used to take notes all the time, but it seems like most games nowadays just have your character remember things like important numbers and words automatically.

Right now I have a freakin' novel written in an odd mixture of Serbian and English for Morrowind... I mean, seriously, pages upon pages... mostly in order and mostly crossed out...

I do have a notebook established where I have written down the order of symbols for the TLJ megaphone system, the Fate of Atlantis tunnel hierarchy, even all the colors from the end of MI2... Whole bunch of other stuff... Worms 2 codes... Cheats for Starcraft, Warcraft, all the other games that I have... etc... etc... etc... HOWEVER the notebook is in Galveston, and I am in San Antonio...

Strange that I never took notes for any adventure game I ever played :o

I either have everything in my head, or I'm stuck!

Maybe this is the key to my actually finishing an adventure game ;)

I've never used a notebook, just A4 sheets from my printer. They all went to the trashbin at some point or another, though. Not that I care... not at all interesting and I doubt anyone would bother reading them.

Tamara, wow. That's really cool stuff you have there. :)

To keep on topic, I very rarely take notes for adventure games, and if I do it will be for particular puzzles on loose sheets of paper that I later throw away. I keep non-puzzle related notes when I'm reviewing, though, often with things that never make it into the final review (way too detailed). Not sure I've kept any of those, though. I have notes for Planescape: Torment, though, to keep tabs on quests I was doing, puzzles I knew I'd be able to solve at some point in the future, etc. I could scan them if you want, but they'd contain spoilers.

Royal: thanks :) Check out the rest of the site if you like that one  :D </blantant plug>

I'm so lazy that -unless the system is very obvious like the pentagram puzzle in GK3- I usually either just think about other things while trying every possible combination (this can take a long time, for example in Monkey Island 2 I tried to use both a walkthru and my own notes, but I eventually trial and error worked best for the leg-bone-hip-whatever-puzzle), stop playing the game altogether or consult a walkthru.

I had to do that with that damn Sunstone, World Stone puzzle in Fate of Atlantis; the clue in the grail book made sense to me but it never worked. So I just randomly turned the stones and the combination that worked made no sense with the clue.

Anyway, personally I very rarely take notes. In mazes I tend to just click away randomly, or give up unless it's a really good game. Isn't that terrible... :D
