Hello,

Im an indie game developer starting a new project. Im interested in doing a first person adventure, featuring a 3d real time engine, but I think adventure gamers usually have modest PC so if I work with 3.0 shaders and such nobody will play the game.

So Im making this small questionnaire in order to decide if 3d real time is a good idea..

If you are interested, please, answer the questions:

What graphics card do you have (gforce 7800 GS, radeon 9200...) ?

Do you prefer full real-time 3D (imagine Half Life 2) over 360º 2d (like myst saga) ?

That's all, thanks!

If the story/characters/puzzles pull the game in the proper direction It doesn't matter to me whether the game is 2D or 3D. My card is a Radeon X300.

I think I prefer the 2D style for adventures and real time 3D for the FPS type of game.

I have a Geforce mx440 graphics card.

If your game will take, for example, two years to complete, you can probably develop for whatever is currently considered a decent-ish gaming setup, and two years hence will be fairly accessable.

What are you developing in? Just curious, but can you develop with/for Ogre?

I like real-time 3D on consoles, where I won't have to worry about upgrading to play it. On a PC, where I'm likely to have a hard time getting the game to run at all and even if I do it'll have severe slowdown and such problems, I prefer 360-degree views or even a 2D slideshow to the nightmare that real-time 3D brings with it.

My graphics card is a 64MB GeForce4MX 440, which I've learned is actually a version of the GeForce 2.

64MB nVidia NV28 Graphics card

I don't mind what engine the game runs on as long as the story, environment, atmosphere etc. is done well through the engine.

I prefer Myst IV over Myst V because I feel that Myst IV really made use of its engine, while Myst V was only 3D without using its full potential. But I also prefer Broken Sword 3's engine over that of Broken Sword 1 & 2. Simply because it was used nicely.
