Hi.
There are at least two fixes for this problem.
One official, that is mentioned in the readme file, and another one I found while tinkering around with the setting files for the game.
Official solution:
You may be able to alter the sound hardware acceleration if your sound card supports this feature. Please try the following:
1. Click on your Windows Start button.
2. Click on the Run Command.
3. Type in the white box "dxdiag" in lower case and without the quotes.
4. Click OK.
5. Click on the sound tab.
6. You will see a slider bar for your hardware acceleration - we recommend you reduce this to 'Basic acceleration' although you may wish to experiment with the settings and see which works best on your own hardware setup.
7. Exit the DXDIAG and try running the game again.
-------
Alternative solution if it doesn't help or if you don't want to run other games, that needs the acceleration to be at full, at snail pace is this:
1. Open the installation folder to Broken Sword - Angel of Death(usually C: \Program Files\THQ\Revolution Software Ltd\Broken Sword The Angel of Death)
2. Open the "system" folder
3. Open the file called compat.ini
4. Make a backup if you need to of this file
5. In this file it says that if you edit "m_bDSoundLocDeferOn = 1" to "m_bDSoundLocDeferOn = 0". It will fix most problems with audio stuttering
6. Edit the file so that m_bDSoundLocForceSoftwareOn = 0, then save the file and run the game
7. If it doesn't help. Open up the file again and change "m_bDSoundLocForceSoftwareOn = 0" to "m_bDSoundLocForceSoftwareOn = 1"(in practice, just follow the advice given in this ini file)
8. Run the game again and see if that fixed it
For me, the last solution worked the best. Because when I lowered the aceleration, the game started lagging because it was struggeling with lack of acceleration. I suddenly had a choppy game instead of a game with disappearing sound.

You're welcome. Glad to hear it worked out.
If anybody else has this problem, and the suggestions above doesn't help. I just found another solution to this problem. http://dmzweb3.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=316,E=0000000000158184383,K=6936,Sxi=9,Case=ob j(24669),Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://uk.europe.creative.com/ has a longer article explaining how to solve this problem with the Creative X-Fi sound card. But a lot of what they mention works even if you got another sound card.
Especially the part about "Ensure that the SATA hard drive is not conflicting with PCI memory resources. Changing to a different controller may help." did it for me. I disabled the SATA controller, since I don't use it. Afterwards the game ran like a sharm. No more jumpy mouse and everybody spoke perfectly. Of course, now I just ran it for a few min. But the last time I tried it I had a lot of problems near the meat factory. No problems with that now. I have that chipset they mention: nForce 4
I think rather many motherboards got a NVIDIA nForce 4 chipset, so if you got that problem it's wise to check the manual to the motherboard to see if these solutions can help you.
